Game Thread: 2020 NFL Draft

Combined they will get contracts worth about $84MM, most of it guaranteed. Those 4 players are now set for life.
IF they are wise with the money and make good investments that will sustain them vs partying and handing money to the hangers on, buying fast cars and getting mixed up with fast women who marry to divorce for a paycheck.

I don't think they are ever going to win a championship, conference or Super Bowl, with Dak. He's a good QB, but there is something missing. For every great play, there is a boneheaded mistake to undo it. Heck, he's not what Tony Romo was, and they could never break through with him. Of course, part of this was always Jason Garrett, and he's gone now.
Yeah....it's like waiting for Mississippi State to be Mississipi State, right?

But when Dak took over for Romo, I think there was just a relief that the QB could take a lick that wouldn't break him. That's one thing Dak can do. He's tough, but I agree with you that I think his QB skills aren't actually what they've been hyped to be.

I don't know that much about Wills, Ruggs or Juedy, but I have a strong suspicion that Tua won't fall victim to wasting his fortune. Not only does he act with class and wisdom, but he's got his family right by his side.

Falcons need safety, linebacker, DT, DE. There is a possibility to get some Bama guys here. They like Lewis a lot and he has been on the radio interviewing with local Atlanta radio stations recently.

So last night I saw a Tweet about the Bama boys and the "guaranteed" money their draft spot typically made.

Tua was at 30 million. 😮 I normally don't pay that much attention to things like that, but if it's even close to right....wow!

nfl-draft-2020-how-much-each-first-round-pick-will-be-paid.html

Above is an al.com article about how much each 1st rounder will make this year.

I also saw an interview with Tua... he said his family plans to stay in Birmingham and not move to Miami. I guess that means Taulia will stay at Bama. Things could change though.

Does anyone know what design was on the inside of Tua's jacket? I could not tell except that it was very colorful. I have not read anything about it either. I noticed he was the only one in the 1st round who dressed up. It was nice to see that. Ruggs wore the robe for Old Spice to promote them giving something like $350,000 to a local United Way.

Only real surprise for me was X falling out of the first round. I think his 4.63 40 may have hurt him some. If you're taking a safety in the first round he needs to be able to play inside the box (which X does well) but also play center field and have tremendous range. I'm guessing his slower than anticipated 40 time knocked him out of the first..

Bookmarking this snark for when the Browns actually do win the Super Bowl make the playoffs next season.

It wasn’t really aimed at you, but feel free to because it makes the season more enjoyable if there are things to look forward to.

Who it was aimed at was a poster that doesn’t post much anymore that got really offended at @DzynKingRTR and myself saying the Browns are still the Browns after Baker kept throwing interceptions the first 3 games. He kept on and on telling us how awesome the current team was and how they were playoff bound last year.

FWIW I don’t hate the Browns, just the Ravens (aka the first Browns).

I don't hate the Browns either. I just know they have stunk it up for 20+ years now.

Rumors are the Falcons are going to trade up in the second round. Looking forward to yet another overreach for a guy that would have been available in the round when they picked.

Oh don't worry, I didn't feel targeted at all. You won't meet many Browns fans defending Mayfield's 2019 performance. But as any Cleveland fan will tell you: next year might just be our year!

We're united in our hatred of the ratbirds, though. Screw Art Modell.

So, what Alabama players get selected tonight? I'm going with:

Diggs, McKinney, Davis & Lewis or Jennings (not sure which, but probably not both)

For OSU - Dobbins & Harrison (Hill slips to Day 3)

I think X, Diggs, and Lewis go tonight..... Davis and Jennings both fall to Day 3

I think Jalen *might* go tonight.....

JK Dobbins is sitting there as the STEAL of the Draft imo.....I can't believe ESPN has Swift ranked higher.

Agreed

Tonight is the night that teams really make their draft to build winning teams. LOADS of serious talent still out there.

NYG, GB, and ATL better redeem themselves tonight. Just simply AWFUL picks IMO.
