Actually Petty made the right decision. He needs to protect his draft status as much as he can. If he plays and he struggle, he can easily go undrafted. Not worth it. So he made right choice.Everyone and their brother knows this, including NBA scouts. Sitting out tells me he has no confidence in his ability to improve as a player and that he is unwilling to take a risk. Good luck playing overseas JP.
Just thinking that the NBA can't look at that decision very favorably.Actually Petty made the right decision. He needs to protect his draft status as much as he can. If he plays and he struggle, he can easily go undrafted. Not worth it. So he made right choice.
I wouldn't be surprised if his agent encouraged that. A lot of this is business strategy. Herb didn't play either but both did individual training sessions.Just thinking that the NBA can't look at that decision very favorably.
The Primo situation is a quagmire...theres a great chance for him to be drafted but hes either late first round out middle to later first round. Late first round would be worth it but if he goes middle to late second round he would go undervalued.I was thinking the same when I heard Petty not playing. Nothing to lose and he can only go up. But looks like Primo is gone which is great for him bad for me as a fan wanting to watch him in Crimson. lol Will be nice to have more Bama guys in the NBA finally though.
Eastern Europe is nice this time of year.Everyone and their brother knows this, including NBA scouts. Sitting out tells me he has no confidence in his ability to improve as a player and that he is unwilling to take a risk. Good luck playing overseas JP.
I too hope it works out best for him. Anything in the first round would seem to pull him to the NBA. He most likely would be going to a decent team being picked in the later part of the 1st round where could continue to develop as a role player. Though it could be hard knocks going early in the second round to a weaker team for considerably less money than potentially staying at Bama for another year and boosting his draft stock. The Primo situation is a quagmire...theres a great chance for him to be drafted but hes either late first round out middle to later first round. Theres no way of knowing for sure where he would go without some type of guarantee. He had a session with the Bulls but they dont pick til the second round. The Bulls were also looking at Herb before Primo announced draft intentions.
I hope it sincerely works out for him.
Huge spread on the range of potential landing spots for him though. He's been working out with late lottery teams but could fall all the way to mid-second round.27 JT Thor (Nets)
That's my concern with Primo as well ... the Nuggets would be a great landing spot for him in the first but if he drops down to the 40 and below range, it would mean someone got him for a steal. Same with JT.Huge spread on the range of potential landing spots for him though. He's been working out with late lottery teams but could fall all the way to mid-second round.
I'll be pleased as hell if he goes anywhere in the first. That would make four first rounders in the last 3 drafts.
Both high risk/high reward guys, yeah. That's my concern with Primo as well ... the Nuggets would be a great landing spot for him in the first but if he drops down to the 40 and below range, it would mean someone got him for a steal. Same with JT.
I think the comments are pretty realistic. He was not even close to the best player on our team last year. He disappeared in many games.I think ya'll are little harsh on Petty.
