2023 Braves trades and acquisitions

trade deadline is today at 6pm et. We shall see if Alex A. goes and gets someone to help. I have a feeling it will be meh or nothing.
Lorenzen and Rodriguez of the Tigers both appear to be on the “want” list by several teams. Don’t know if AA will get something done in terms of an additional starter.

I’m thinking starters like Lorenzen, Rodriguez or even Flaherty from the Cards might be a little too “rich for AA’s blood” as it appears Baltimore, Houston, Dodgers and possibly others are looking to shore up their rotations.

Could go after another arm for the bullpen I guess. I guess we’ll find out in the next few hours.

I wonder how much the Mets would eat to move Verlander.
Word now from many on Twitter is Dodgers, Astros, Braves and Orioles are all in the Verlander sweepstakes.

IMO the Mets would need to eat a bunch. Yes he is a proven commodity, but he is also 40 years old with a huge player option.

If what I'm reading is correct, the Mets are going to pay about 60% of Verlander's salary, so the Astros will pay Verlander less than what they offered him to stay last year, at the cost of two minor leaguers.

Plus Verlander moves back to an organization and front office he has a history with. A win for him and the Astros.

Urquidy will be back in the next few days, so the Astros will have 6 starters like last year. They also got Kendall Graveman for some bullpen depth. If Brantley ever gets back we may be seeing Astros/Braves Part 2.
