JessN: 2023 Previews: SEC West

My analysis will be brief. If we are to compete for the SEC West and the SECCG it will be squarely on the shoulders of the defense. I don't know if we have enough offense, especially at QB and WR to win the Division. Color me skeptic, but I will have to see major improvement in the OL if we are to make it to Atlanta. Things can change, but right now I see another 10-2 season.

Gray, I know we have a bad taste in our mouths when we say 10-2 because we are spoiled, but 99% of teams in the country would love to have that. How many teams would love to have gone 11-2 and win the Sugar Bowl last year? Almost every one of them! I'm going to try to enjoy this season and hope it is a successful transition back to our more physical and disciplined selves. Even if it doesn't produce a championship this year, I think it will before Saban leaves. I'm predicting 11-1 and will be cheering for 12-0. Roll Tide!

Well said, Teamplayer, and I could not agree more. I did not mean to imply that a 10-2
season would be a disappointment; I was just trying to be realistic based on what we know of this team on both sides of the ball right now. I also agree that the last several teams have lacked in terms of physical play and discipline. Hopefully the change in coordinators will bring back those team qualities which have been missing. Roll Tide.

I too am quite worried about the QB position. If Milroe cannot raise his YPA by AT LEAST 30%, we might struggle to win 8 games. That said, maybe he can. The OL is better and there are a couple of soph WRs coming back. One that I think will stand out is Kobe Prentice.

My main worries are obviously QB and also the DL. Tim Smith has failed to impress me very much, but; I am hoping that Golding was screwing him up. I hope there is enough talent and depth on the DL but this remains to be seen.

The LB and RB rooms look GREAT. If the OL can block, we can (and I think WILL) be dangerous.

And of course, we still have the greatest coach in the history of college football so we will always have a chance at the title. :)

ROLL TIDE!!!!! RTR 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course not
I’m honestly trying to gauge what we would consider success.

For me, winning the SEC and losing in the playoff is about as low as I can go.

I know that’s probably an unrealistic rubric but I’m not yet ready to give up on my delusional fandom just yet.

It is National Championship or Bust around here, as it should be.
