I think the most important position to recruit this year is OL after watching the line last year and so far this year. They need some of these guys to hit this year.

IMHO, recruiting along both lines of scrimmage is critical EVERY year.
what we are truly seeing is how Flood missed evaluation and lack of developing talent. He could recruit for sure.
I had always heard a lot of good things about him, so I figured Saban saw a good thing and wanted to preserve it……… but was he as good as advertised?

Alabama has been fairly quiet since landing commitments from the monstrous offensive linemen in Miles McVay and Raymond Pulido. Defensive lineman Edric Hill also committed to the Crimson Tide several weeks ago. Now, the Crimson Tide is working on landing commitments…

I have always found it really weird when position coaches would be not so good at their actual job but would be fantastic recruiters. Like that makes no sense to me LOL. I can understand the opposite a little bit better. Some people just aren't charismatic or good at selling people no matter how good they are at their job.
Our OL struggles are a puzzle. The whole lot of them were highly ranked and highly sought after.
So one of three possibilities has to be true:
1. They were over-ranked, and we mid-evaluated.
2. We haven’t developed them physically, or
3. Playing techniques being taught are flawed.
We’re just had too much under-achievement vs. high school ranking for too long.

Just remember: TA&M had more players ranked in the top 100 than Appalachian State had in the top 1000. I believe it was 3 years ago that we were recognized as the best OL in the country. I think development is the key -- most of the time OL develop later than others.
I do think it’s development and a combination of size on the interior. Our interior guys are around 300 pounds. I know with strength it’s about explosiveness but those extra pounds will always make it harder to push a line backwards.
I do believe the new o-line coach is the answer but players will have to break bad habits which will happen as the season goes along.
Also in Texas case they have Bo Davis, arguably the best defensive line coach we’ve had that took 3 stars like Marcel Dareus, Lorenzo Washington and Brandon Deaderick and made them into stars in college.

I believe in Macs championship season we had the best offensive line in college football and the first running back selected the NFL draft with the Heisman winner at receiver. With the numbers going out to the NFL and transferring annually it is challenging to say the least to perform at comparable levels.
It is going to be a work in progress this season even with an offensive line and defense that is ahead of last year at this point in the season.
If we think it is frustrating now lets keep our fingers crossed that Bryce stays healthy!
I suspect A&M will unlock some big NIL money in the month or so before signing day.
He re-confirmed this week that he was solid with Bama. Now backing up of the Brink's truck may change everything but I think we hold on to him especially considering A&M is going to lose at least 4 games this year.
