Is it really a character flaw if he takes a step back to see what happens next? Or would you rather be surprised on Signing Day if he goes in a different direction? This, after all, is only the most important decision he's ever faced in his life.

Is it really a character flaw if he takes a step back to see what happens next? Or would you rather be surprised on Signing Day if he goes in a different direction? This, after all, is only the most important decision he's ever faced in his life.
This kid has been all about himself all along…the rest of the class I’ll absolutely give that pass…RW’s been trolling us all along…lunch says he goes to the Boogs…the clowns that rolled the trees because maybe they have a chance now…
Bud, this is the kid's career. His decision should be all about himself at this point. He's going through things that old folks like you and me can't even imagine. And he just turned 17.
I won't add anything negative about Williams because I saw this a coming despite everything to the contrary. The GOAT sudden retirement may be a reason for his de commitment or was he going to do it eventually from all the signs we saw.
My only gripe is why didn't he just wait to see who the new HC would be and what he has to say before de committing??? He has a month to decide before NSD, but he just couldn't wait....

I'll reserve my comments, but I wouldnt doubt the new coach goes after him..........but the whole thing smells of boogs
My guess is that thirty seconds after one of these so-called recruiting reporters saw the retirement announcement he calls the kid up and asks him how this affects his commitment...

It's a huge decision and the facts have changed dramatically. His family should take some time. It's possible the Barners were right and he planned a last minute flip, but who knows ? I can't fault him for hitting the pause button after yesterday.
IMO, he announced when he did because it was as close as he could get to helping the Aubies roll Toomers Corner. He was celebrating the retirement and rubbing it in your face.

I'm with you, dude was never that serious in my mind. If the QB that supposed to be throwing to you in the future is already on campus and you re-classified then it would make sense you would be on campus with him and the team. But yet, he was down in Mobile at the All-Star game flaunting all his Bama gear like it was all good. It's right down childish and whomever is responsible for him should be ashamed for stooping this low

I get that, but Hayes Fawcett (posted that news) obviously was the first to contact the kid when the news broke and immediately posted the decommitment news. It happened so quickly that I seriously doubt that the kid was instructed to do that.
It appears to me that Fawcett informed Williams that Saban had just retired and then asked how that affects his commitment.

The type of offense washington ran should make Ryan Williams salivate. I think we'll pull him back in the fold after all.
