Imagine that conversation with dad:

"Ty, I think you should consider staying."

"Dad! I'm getting MUGGED every game!"
Yep. If I were him and Bama is expected to have one of the best O lines in college football like the last two years, I’d be looking somewhere else, too. The exodus of some offensive linemen also makes me wonder if DeBoer is looking to keep the current OL coach.

I never thought Simpson was a great fit for the offense we run. He has a solid arm not the kind that really stretches the ball down the field. The second half of the season with the injury he had it made it worse but still the arm wasn’t prototypical for the play action passing game down the field. Pennix is that type of guy which allowed Grubb to run his offense at full throttle.

A 3,000-follower account posts a random graphic before any real college football insiders know anything, and people are losing their minds over it on X. That’s how the rumor mill gets out of control. Now it’s silly graphics being thrown around about Ty Simpson transferring. He’s not going to play for another team. He might come back, and if he does it would be a huge return for a guy that was virtually number one in the heisman race until he got injured against South Carolina, this team needs to be very thankful for what he was able to accomplish with virtually no running game, one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen, and a wide receiver core that had more drops than I can remember over the last 10 years.

Not sure i agree...i think he was hampered by his injuries but his arm seemed fine when he had time and we actually had a receiver going long..but those conditions rarely matched up thanks to the OL woes. He is easily able to throw it 50 yards...the TD to Brooks vs OU showed that..i think when healthy he can throw it with velocity further...

I’m not sure this is true.

I can’t find anything about a Tom Loy from 247 saying this.

I can only find an IG and FB link and a Threads mirror of this X post.

If this were true it would be all over the internet.
It could certainly happen in the current environment; but I will put credence when this is actually on the 247 Transfer Portal website. Which it is not; at this time.

Here's a good article from Colin Gay from the Tuscaloosa news detailing all the injuries he was playing with. It's pretty remarkable he played as well as he did down the stretch with the amount of injuries he was dealing with.

The touchdown to Brooks was 31 yards. I think he has a solid arm but I would call it mostly average. Mendoza has an average arm as well but you can still succeed with the right system. Simpson wasn’t a guy I would think CKD recruits to run his type of sytem which is designed with guys with big arms. Mack has that and the guys he has recruited are that type as well. I know some say the offense we run now won’t work here in SEC but I disagree but you need the quarterback that fits that system. Here are the highlights from Pennix, how many of these throws does Simpson make. The throw at the 3:16 mark vs Oregon is just insane. Back foot flips wrist and throws it 50 yards on a line.

I think many of us knew Ty had been fighting through stuff since the South Carolina game. His velocity was lacking and his accuracy suffered and he shifted his throwing motion to try to remove the stress on his back Then throw bursitis in on top it. Good grief.

He damn well gutted the season out. Never question Ty’s heart and toughness.

C’mon people! REALLY! I’m not accusing any one of bashing Ty but c’mon! Even though it’s offseason now don’t take a rumor probably generated just for clicks and light the guy up. He wasn’t perfect but he was also playing A LOT in a compromised situation for A LOT of reasons.

JEEZ!!!
Meh…only one seemingly negative post and some handwringing…as Dad always said,”Never accept criticism from someone that you wouldn’t seek advice from.”
