2028 Recruiting Thread

2028 EDGE rusher Tysir Young commits:

he's only going to get better as he starts to fill out his body before leaving HS.
not only is he the #1 player in Delaware, but one of the top Edge players in the country.
his offer list is all you need to know. I expect his rankings to shoot up as well before he's done.

Great addition to this very good class so far. As SJC stated, we beat out Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Miami, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Indiana for his commitment. Hopefully we keep him until Dec of 2027.

Hopefully those who thought this staff was bad at recruiting now understands what they are doing in the 2027 class.

We have some pretty big pledge cards we are counting on...

I'm wondering if some of the 2027 recruiting problems were recruits seeing our O-line coaches as "Dead Man Walking" and those coaches weren't recruiting hard or were more responsible for 2027 guys and when they left, 2027 was stymied?

Probably not because of that, but the coaching change was a part of it. Kap actually built some relationships with a lot of the linemen in this class, and we may have actually landed one or two if he didn't get fired. I know we were leading for one, but then the new coach comes in and doesn't really have time to build relationships with them before they start getting ready to commit. That's the downside of firing a position coach who happens to be a great recruiter. I think Klemm will turn out to be just as good of a recruiter as Kap, but he just came on kinda late for this for this class.

Kap’s recruiting ability is the only thing keeping him gainfully employed.

TJ - Are we actively recruiting ALL of those guys or just wishful thinking? 🤔
I can't speak for the rest, but according to Jimmy Stein, we are the leader for each of the top 10 prospects in Alabama (most of which are on TJ's list). That's not to say we will land them all. In fact, we probably won't, but this is a strong in-state class, and we are doing well with them. Jimmy believes we may land around 7 of the top 10 in state prospects.
