Funny, that we Bama fans like Shawshank Redemption so much, it makes me think of hope in somewhat of a hopeless place. I think it describes the state of our football program over the last several years (10) that we may have to "crawl through a mile of "Shi# but may just yet come out clean on the other side". My top 5 is just to hard to come up with but no doubt that

That Pan's Labyrinth was pretty good-- but not in my top 100

He wouldn't invite you unless you promised not to make a peep during the movie. He is one of those guys who is even bothered by having people around him eat popcorn during the film. :biggrin:

1. "Saving Private Ryan" - absolutely outstanding, and an excellent tribute to 'the greatest generation' as well.
2. "A Beautiful Mind" - best story, hands down.
3. "O Brother, Where art Thou" - pure entertainment; a movie for the sheer fun of it. Love the Cohens when they get rolling.
4. "The Others" - And you thought ghost stories had to be bloody.
5. "Full Metal Jacket" - I am too young for Vietnam, but the first thirty minutes had me believing I was back on Parris Island. The only truly realistic portrayal of boot camp I have ever seen come from Hollywood.
Honorable mentions - "Cinderella Man", "Reservoir Dogs", "Unforgiven", "The Green Mile", "The Big Lebowski", "Natural Born Killers", "The Ring", "Forrest Gump", "Always Outnumbered, Always Outgunned". If the last one hadn't been made-for-T.V., it might well have made the top five.

No worries... still a great film. I love watching just the boot camp sequence. R. Lee Emery, who plays Sgt. Hartman, was only going to be a technical adviser on the film. When Kubrick saw him give a non-stop 15 minute D.I. rant while having tennis balls and oranges thrown at him, he gave Emery the role.
