I disagree. How much smaller would UA be without all of the tradition centered on the football program? Alabama is football. You can't separate the two.

We don't need to get into the whole students vs. Tide Pride thing again...not the day before the biggest game we've had in nearly a decade. C'mon folks...let's all get along and beat those gators!!!

I think that every student should get a ticket to every game, even if it means that no one else gets a ticket. College football is for college students first, not rich folks who have the money for club memberships...

Then you have no football program. Most athletics teams do not support themselves. Without the rich folks with money and club memberships, the athletic department does not survive in most instances. FWIW...without those rich folks, Bama wouldn't have Nick Saban.

I think 95% turnout is great given that 30% of the student body are out-of-state or international students and the game was during Thanksgiving weekend. How dare the students go home during Thanksgiving to be with their families?

well i was in the student section, and i'm glad those extra 5% weren't there, because we couldn't move as it was...we were jammed packed in there...at least in our section.

Testy? This garbage always comes up. Someone always complains about it.

You know what I was in a Fraternity when I was at UA and went to every single home game and a lot of road games. I'm sure 5% of the non-greek tickets weren't used as well. Statistics usually work out that way if you have a large enough sample. So, I don't want to hear it every time someone wants to ..... and moan about the Greek system. It's getting old. It needs to go on the Non Football board.

did you watch the homecoming game on tv? I did. the greek section was empty and an absolute embarrassment to watch. When I was in school we had B'ham games, usually at 11:30 in the morning. For us regular students that meant getting to the Ham at 8am to park and tailgate bc if you did not go in as soon as the gates opened up at 9:30 you wouldn't get a seat. During the game, w/o a seat you had to constantly move around the Student Section with ushers and cops making sure you couldn't stand in the aisles while at the same time there were plenty of seats available in the greek section which were not an option for GDI's. It's a really stupid set up. IMO if they do not get rid of the block seating they should at least mandate that any seats not being used by kickoff in the greek section are fair game and open to all.

Bottom line: All tickets not used = NO REASON TO INCREASE SIZE OF STUDENT SECTION.

wrong. they just need to find a way to get the tickets to the students who will actually go to the games. like, maybe give each student points depending on games they went to for other sports. we have to swipe our cards to get in, so they can easily keep track of it that way.

I am pretty sure they are the only ones that vote anyway. I know I will get tickets from here on out. I had to go thru the Freshman half season tickets, but now that I am a sophmore I should get season tickets the next two years. Trust me I have no problem getting tickets right when they go on sale. Basically it really doesn't matter to me as long as I have tickets.
