2020 Prospect: 5* TE Darnell Washington

Any updates on Darnell Washington and the last visit he had with Saban? I read somewhere that he may take an OV to Tennessee this weekend? Of course the UGA boards still think he is all UGA.
Oh yeah, pretty much considered a lock over here in Georgia. They’ve always thought they’d get either, and maybe both, Gilbert and Washington. With Gilbert to LSU, Washington’s a slam dunk.
This visit went very well....he really liked the plan that Alabama had in place for him, his gf, and their baby. Alabama has made this one tight down the stretch.
Marcus Banks did the same thing last year....and no one had a clue. He can let them know that he signed with another school, but he isn't obligated to tell them where.

I think a key indicator after Wednesday will be if we continue to heavily try to find another TE target to sign in this class. The UAAA game is on Thurs 1/2 so we will have a couple of long weeks to truly know.
i just read through the TN recruiting boards and they seem to think he is all Tennessee, especially because he visited there 6 times, his last OV was with them this past weekend, and he has a great relationship with the TE coach there (since he was 15 years old). He also keeps talking about how he loves Chaney's offense.
I would really like to know what he thought of Saban/Sark. I hope he chooses Bama but it seems he is either TN or UGA. I guess the other tight end from Mississippi, JJ Preagues is all Auburn?
I thought I read that Pegues was interested in Bama pretty heavy...……….not sure what anyone sees in Chaney's offense
JJ Pegues is all Bama if he gets the green light to commit...the staff is waiting to see which direction Washington will go...they believe that they are still in it.
JJ is supposed to announce his commitment tomorrow morning. Will he have an answer from Alabama by then? Hate to see Alabama's plan B missed because you waited on Washington, only to have Washington go elsewhere.
Washington claimed that he would have his decision made Tuesday night. So we shall see...I believe Bama will have a feel of which way it goes by tonight.
This is my concern for Bama/Saban... Saban thinks he is getting a player (Washington) then the player either lies or flips at the last second, then plan B has already signed, so we are at Plan C. Isn't that what happened a few years ago to Bama?
Don't the players have a day or so to change their mind once they announce? Or if they announce, don't they have a day or two to actually sign the LOI? Once it is signed, I guess they cannot change it, or is there a 2 day period to change?
Considering some of the hijinks of recent years , I hope it is a definite decision.......I’d hate to lose a sure bet because the other was playing games
Once you send in the LOI, you must transfer to avoid attending the school. It is possible to play right away (think Kaho), but the school must agree to release you from your LOI.
Pegues is announcing tomorrow at 8am. Darnell is announcing Jan 2... it is likely he inform school today and sign with them in private and announce on Jan 2. if Bama don't hear from Darnell, they probably will go with Pegues as a safe bet.. and tell Washington he missed a chance.
