34 days until Alabama Football: Damien Harris
We are 34 days away from kickoff! Damien Harris (34) was a running back at Alabama from 2015-2018. Harris arrived in 2015 as the top RB out of high school but was relegated to a backup role as a freshman behind the eventual Heisman winner Derrick Henry. Henry would leave for the NFL after 2015 though, giving Harris a big increase in play time. In 2016, Damien rushed for 1,037 yards and 2 TDs on 7.1 yards per carry as Alabama finished the regular season as undefeated SEC Champions. This was a very impressive total considering Harris was splitting carries with fellow 5 star Bo Scarbrough. In 2017, Harris emerged as the most productive RB out of the three headed monster consisting of Damien Harris, Bo Scarbrough, and freshman Najee Harris. Harris would finish his junior year with 1,000 yards rushing and 11 TDs on 7.4 yards per carry. His yards per carry average that season ranks second all-time in Alabama history for a single season by a Bama RB. Harris and co. would go onto win the National Championship in 2017. Harris opted to return for his senior season in 2018 and was once again incredibly productive. Now splitting carries with Najee, Damien Harris garnered a total of 1,080 yards from scrimmage and 9 TDs as the Tide once again finished the season as undefeated SEC Champions. Harris was named Second Team All-SEC in 2018 for his efforts. Damien Harris would end up finishing his Tide career with a total of 3,070 yards rushing, along with three SEC Championship and National Championship rings. After graduating, Damien Harris was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. Damien is the Patriots starting RB heading into the 2022 season where he'll be lining up alongside former Alabama QB Mac Jones.

Beautiful Cullman, AL
For being tackled behind the LOS? 😁

Seriously, most of his positive yards he made on his own while dodging defenders in the backfield. And he got tons of touches, as I recall.
I was thinking he was the all-time leading rusher for a second. I know he almost became the first Alabama RB with 3 consecutive 1000 yard seasons. But Shula's 2006 fiasco happened.

33 days until Alabama Football: Anfernee Jennings
We are 33 days away from kickoff! Anfernee Jennings (33) was a linebacker at Alabama from 2015-2019. Jennings redshirted in 2015 and played in a reserve role in 2016, but in 2017 he had his breakout performance. Anfernee burst onto the national scene as he garnered 3 tackles for loss, a sack, and had two QB pressures that led to interceptions in a 24-6 win against Clemson in the 2018 CFP Semifinal Sugar Bowl (2017 season). The coaching staff named him defensive player of the week for his efforts. Sadly, Anfernee suffered a knee-injury at the end of the Sugar Bowl that kept him out of the National Championship Game. Thankfully, he would return from injury in time for the 2018 season. In 2018, Jennings totaled 5.5 sacks, 13 TFLs, and two fumble recoveries as he helped the Tide win another SEC title and reach another National Championship Game. Jennings decided to come back for his redshirt senior season in 2019 and was able to put together his most complete season. Jennings amassed a career-high 83 total tackles and eight sacks during his senior season. He was named First Team All-SEC in 2019 for his efforts. Jennings graduated from Alabama with 193 total tackles, along with his three SEC Championship and two National Championship rings. After graduating, Anfernee was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots.

Missed posting yesterday, but poor Ken Darby. I'm not really sure how "good" he could have been, but that boy never had a chance on those Bama teams. Born at the wrong time.
My long time friend, Ron Danley, was Darby's high school coach. He still talks about how good Darby was. Even though hampered by the "Shula stuff" and the dark ages, he still accomplished quite a bit at Bama. I wish we could have seen him play under Saban.

32 days until Alabama Football: CJ Mosley
We are now 32 days away from kickoff! CJ Mosley (32) was linebacker at Alabama from 2010-2013. CJ saw the field early and often in 2010 as a freshman. He accumulated 67 total tackles and 2 interceptions that were both returned for touchdowns in 2010. Mosley was named a Consensus Freshman All-American for his efforts that season and carried a lot of hype heading into 2011. Though he missed a couple games due to injury, Mosley, along with the rest of the Alabama defense, was STELLAR in 2011. With help from Mosley, the 2011 Alabama defense held opponents to an incredible 8.8 points per game as the Tide went on to win the 2011 BCS National Championship, beating LSU 21-0 in the final game with help from a CJ Mosley interception. Mosley and the Tide did not miss a beat heading into 2012. Mosley collected 107 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, and four sacks as the Tide defense once again led Alabama to a National Championship. Alabama would go on to beat Notre Dame by the score of 42-14 in the BCS National Championship Game, with CJ Mosley being named the game's Defensive MVP. For his efforts in 2012, Mosley was named First Team All-SEC and a Consensus All-American. CJ decided to come back for his senior year and had another incredible season, garnering 106 tackles and 9 TFLs. For his efforts that season, Mosley was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Unanimous All-American, and First Team All-SEC. He also won the Butkus Award for nation's best linebacker. After graduating, Mosley was drafted with the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Mosley has enjoyed a fantastic NFL career thus far. Over the course of his 9-year NFL career, CJ Mosley has already been named to four All-Pro teams, four Pro Bowls. Mosley currently plays on the New York Jets after signing with them in 2019.
