I was not a part of that crowd and always regretted it. I am going to make it for this one and really hope we have similar turnout to 17 years ago.

I went to that one. IIRC they didn't intend to open the upper decks but the crowd kept growing so they did until finally the fire marshal said enough. Thousands were turned away.

The Fire Marshall had a problem with that? Was it because we were not sufficiently staffed to handle a full stadium?

I went to Saban’s first A day game and got to watch it from one of those luxury boxes complete with kitchen, bathroom and air conditioning. I’ve never seen anything like it since.

This. All gates are not manned for A-Day. Only about half have been staffed for the last few years.
