How many fans will show up for the A-DAY GAME

Originally thought 70,000+. But I forgot about this being a televised game. Change my original answer to 80,000+.

Keep in mind that WE are the ones that started all of this craze about the spring game attendance. ESPN isn't coming to our spring game to promote the game itself. They're coming on the platform that we pack the house for this game and they're interested BECAUSE of that. So to have ESPN bring their crew down to T-Town with all the publicity surrounding our spring games and knowing how we as Bama fans have bragged about it. To NOT pack it out WOULD be embarrassing in my opinion because that is what the announcers are going to be talking about the most leading up to the actual game.

I really hope Alabama can break 80,000. If you are relatively close it seems like a awesome chance to bring your entire family to see the stadium. Hopefully the added excitement over it being nationally televised will help make it a bigger spectacle and attract even more people.

Really, attendance in this game matters more than regular season games. In a regular season game, if a seat is empty it's because someone with a ticket didn't show up or left early. I hope fans take it as a point of pride to show up, support the team and give it a good showing for a national audience.

I fully expect to see a full stadium if the weather is favorable. There is a lot of buzz from the success of last year to the QB situation and the player position shifts. I think fans want to be part of the process and I agree with a lot of folks hear that the gloom and doom in the job world will work to increase numbers rather than diminish them.

I believe the construction will limit the seating in the South endzone. I truly don't think there will be a lot of empty seats this year. We'll see soon enough.

I really think that the fact that it will be on TV will hurt attendance. Obviously, weather has a huge impact on the local population / students coming out. I hope for 70,000+, but anything over 60,000 I still think is impressive.

Does anyone know for sure how many seats will be unavailable due to the construction? I think the stadium will be filled up... I know I will be there and also several of my friends.

If we don't fill the seats, maybe we should all shift around in front of the camera so it looks full? Wasn't there a scene like that in the old movie "No Time for Sargents"?

I don't know if any seats will be unavailable. Once the took down the Jumbotron, it appears most of the construction is currently outside the "bowl."

Firstly, I am tickled pink that the threshold for attendance is 50,000!!!

That said, I expect 60-69,000.

As others have said, it will all depend upon the weather. Also, while we did have a very sucessful season last year, I just don't sense the buzz in the air that was there for the 07 season. I don't expect the pilgrimage to Mecca that occured that year! As long as Saban is here and as long as we keep winning games, I expect A-Day attendance to be around 65,000, but I don't expect it to peak again unless we are the favorite for the NC run.:)

There is a part of me that appreciates the big crowds at the last two A-Day games.

But I always thought, when I lived in Louisiana, that their talk about the crowd in Tiger Stadium was overdone. For years, LSU fans would big-talk the crowd there, and then Alabama would come in there and beat LSU.

It has always seemed to me that the Alabama crowd has its own sound. The sound, when you hear it on TV anyhow, seems to circle around the stadium in a crescendo, unlike any other crowd.

The honor of being the TV spring game is enough for me, really. Again, I always thought that what Bama put on the field was more important than what LSU put in the stands.

Other stadiums had the big crowds, but Alabama had Bear Bryant. Now we have Nick Saban -- and a bigger stadium. I'm glad we have both, but if I had to choose one over the other, I would choose Saban.

To be quite honest, I probably won't attend becuase its going to be on ESPN. I know its usually televised, but usually not on a live feed. However, I would love to attend to show my appreciation for all that they accomplished last season. So I am sort of torn on this subject. It will probably get decided by the weather that day, and i would base my guess on that if its nice out 82,000plus rainy btw 65000 and 85000. RTR!

I will be there and will also DVR the ESPN broadcast so as to watch it multiple times before fall camp.

Ditto that.
Come on guys, CNS wants another full house at A-Day...we need to oblige. As for the buzz, I don't see why there shouldn't be one going, even after a great '08 season. If for no other reason to see the qb's, and all the other new faces. We fans can't get complacent...Coach won't stand for it.:p_green:

I wish I could go to the A-Day game this year. :-(. I will be watching it on ESPN that Saturday. I am running for the State of Mississippi College Republicans Chairman of the Central District (I'm a Constitutionalist to be honest though) that April the 18th. I hate it too that the elections are that day because my Dad is going down to the A-Day Game and I can't leave college to go to A-Day. :-P. I went to the one in 2007 and I don't see any reason why we can't get over 100K back down to Tuscaloosa to see A-Day. If we do what we did in 2007 for A-Day attendance wise, we will have recruits breaking their necks to look at us and come play for Coach "Bear" Saban lol.:BigA:. In 2008 I couldn't go because of some dang Gala I had to go too, so I hope I can go in 2010. ROLL TIDE!:BigA:
