I am the first to admit I have been wrong about everyone I had on my wish list.
If anyone else would like to repent, be my guest. I really thought Spurrier might have enough ego to take us on. I supposed CRR would be ok but then I heard the audio provided here and he doesn't seem to be interested at all. I am done with the game of he said one thing but meant something all together different. I heard a former Bama player remark Saban had the personality of a wood stick and thought oh goody that's what we need another non-emotional robot. So here I am on Saturday morning about to tackle Christmas shopping for something other than a coach and all I can say is I'll leave the crab cakes and champagne for Santa as always but I don't think my Crimson Red stocking is going to be filled with a coach I will be thrilled about. RTR and HO HO HO

If I am wrong about Stoops, then I'll be the first to publicly admit that I am an idiot.

You ever watched Saban on the sidelines of a game? "Non emotional" probably wouldn't be the first thing that popped in my mind to describe him. Not sure what his personality is like though....

Frankly I think Saban would be an excellent fit here. There are probably former players that don't like him because he's known to be a harda**. But frankly, I think thats what we need. I've heard that Saban doesn't take crap off of anybody and there's no doubt who is in charge of his teams. He is ambitious which can sometimes come off as arrogance, but I don't mind that if it produces championship level teams and I don't think anyone else would either. Same goes for RR.

Saban is infamous for being very hard on both his players and his assistants. For example, when he moved from Mich St to LSU, not one of his assistants chose to move with him, which is highly unusual.

Is his leadership what we need? Or, is it too unrealistic if assistant coaches won't follow him?

Good point Earle, very true and something I had forgotten about. Some of those assistants probably regret staying with Bobby Williams though. ;)

Also since this is an admission thread I might as well admit I was wrong on another subject...whether the spread offense would work in the SEC. So here goes...I was wrong. I admit it.
With all the talk of RR possibly coming here many have asked the question if his offense would work here. Some of you may remember when UM at FL took that job many of us, myself included said it wouldn't work here. UM has found a way to make it work although his version is considered more finesse than RR.
So there.

Would venture to say that he's had time to change... but I would imagine the NFL would have done nothing but enhance that, not discourage it. It would seem, though, that he's a 180 degree change from what we've had.

I admit I was wrong for telling my wife(OU alum) this morning that the local NBC affiliate(Norman, OK) reported this morning that Stoops was headed to Bama and then watching her b-line to the CPU, while keeping a straight face.

Seems like the spread (option) offense was tried before in the SEC with pretty decent results back in 2001-2002. Wasn't that basically our offense under fRan?

Of course, I'm probably wrong.

Mal Moore can't find anyone to coach Bama so he names himself head coach and gives himself a 3 mil signing bonus and 2.5 mil a year for 7 years... Hope I'm wrong.:biggrin2:

I'll admit I was wrong spending 14 hours a day on this board thinking there was something to all the "the one you seek is the one you will find he is born under the moon and will be anounced between now and the time of the prophecy" talk and thinking that I would find out something here before it was anounced.
