Hubert Green was just diagnosed with throat cancer. As many of you know, I grew up with Hubert in Birmingham. I've never known a more fierce competitor as was evidenced when he won the US Open while under a death threat.
Among his other 19 PGA titles is a PGA Championship and a missed 3 footer on 18 at Augusta allowed Gary Player to take the green jacket. Hubert actually went out at dusk that same evening and putted that putt several more times. Man, what a competitor!!
If anybody can beat this thing, it's Hubert but I know he would appreciate being remembered in your prayers as he battles for his life. I am told it is quite serious.
