Ah, Florida - words fail me.

I love where I live in FL. I’m south of Orlando in a more rural area. I can be on the coast or in Orlando pretty easily and still enjoy the rural agricultural lifestyle. I doubt I ever leave the state. It’s awesome.
There are a lot of things I like about Florida. The Gulf and the Atlantic, the beaches are second to none, great fishing, the Everglades and its wildlife, the smell of the sea, lots of sunshine, world class oranges, outstanding seafood, palm trees and the Florida flora, the Keys, etc. I understand why folks want to vacation and retire in Florida.

Here are a few things I do NOT like:

1) Seninoles, Gators, and Hurricanes
2) gators and hurricanes
3) sand
4) more sand
5) no hills or mountains
6) no snow or winter to speak of
7) no hardwood forests that I’ve seen
8) an enormous number of tourists
9) way too many people

Unless I was offered a really great job, I would never even consider moving to Florida.

My favorite state is Montana. The landscape takes my breath. The wildlife is incredible. The air smells clean.

I’m glad you are able to live and work in your favorite state.

FWIW, my second favorite state is Tennessee.

The insurance rate in Florida for property has gone up, but only a fraction of what it is scheduled to go up over the next ten or twenty years.

After the insurance companies nationwide kicked Florida out of the national group pool, rates in Florida were set to jump and they decided to make the increases gradual. They’ve dramatically increased rates since then, but my understanding is that they will continue to rise much faster than normal.

I spent summers in Panama City growing up, I love the sun and the beach. Plus they seem to be more reasonable about pot than we are in Alabama. Plenty to like about Florida.

Heat can be rough and home owners insurance is wild, but other than that I love it. The eft tries to make a mockery of the state and as a resident that’s all overblown nonsense.
I know a ton of folks who live in FL both (from living there and from traveling back and forth scoping out property) - I've not met a single one yet who doesn't love living there. I'm sure there are some, but I've not come across any - from gas stations attendants to executives, they all love it when I ask.

Lol, I don't know anyone who hates Tennessee unless they live in or around Memphis.

I mean, I know tons of people that don't live in TN and wouldn't want to. That's the equivalent to this discussion.

I do know quite a few people in the Nashville area that can't wait to get out, largely because the leadership there has done such a poor job of keeping the infrastructure on par with the growth. And lots of music industry people hate the politics in this state.
