Alabama, Future Scheduling Thread

Virginia Tech added for 2034 and 2035.

Hey all, long time since I've wandered by. Came here to post this and see you've already got a thread going. Obviously these games are forever from now and who knows if they'll actually happen, but I am definitely looking forward to making the trip! I was lucky enough to see the Hokies beat tOSU in the 'shoe a few years back, maybe lightning will strike twice!! :biggrin2:

Can't speak to your fans, but for me it was always about wanting to visit the other schools. Atlanta's fine, but I'd rather see college towns/campuses/stadiums for these OOC games than a city I've been to plenty of times already. Also, not all neutral sites are as good as the GA dome. Fedex field, for example, is a disaster. Traffic sucks, mass transit options suck, the tailgating scene sucks, the cost of everything sucks, Dan Synder sucks, and the stadium itself has issues, like seats with obstructed views.

Anyway, hope all is well in T-Town! Looking forward to the big game next weekend, good luck to your guys.

I’ll never understand the nitpicking over the neutral site games of the past 10 years. We all love H/H’s but the one-time neutral site games were a huge springboard to great success over the last decade and featured some really good matchups.

Now lots of teams are scheduling H/H games. It seems like the neutral site games aren't cool/trendy anymore.

Many young folks on here may not realize that Ga Tech is an old rival. I think this is a great addition to the future schedule.

That's when I realize how much I've seen. I mean, I can remember the early 80s when we played Tech about every year - and unfortunately, lost to them twice in four years. The 1981 loss cost us a shot at the national title (which btw - we still may have won had Nebraska beaten Clemson and we beaten Texas in the bowls).

Of course, I wasn't around back when Bryant was wearing a helmet on the sidelines to avoid being hit by thrown bottles or the infamous Holt-Graining incident - even if my son DOES think I was around back then....

And remember, Ga Tech was the school where Bobby Dodd coached -- when he and CPB were accused of fixing the game by a reporter who somehow tapped their phones. (Selma can add the details...LOL.) CPB won the lawsuit, but the whole affair left a really bad taste between the schools.
At that time this was major -- I cannot imagine how this would have played out in today's social media driven world.

My father worked for Atlanta Transit( later to become MARTA) when the whiskey bottle game was played. He was the only Bama fan in the shop, and he carried a special dislike for Tech after that....... I’d love to see Bama light them up

I believe that was against UGA and the coach was Wally Butts
