AHSAA releases All-Star Classic roster

The Alabama-Mississippi High School All-Star Classic will have plenty of local flavor.

AHSAA officials announced the 37-man roster for the Dec. 13 game Wednesday, and 10 players from the Mobile/Baldwin area ? nearly one-third of the team ? were selected. Blount and Foley had two players each chosen for the team.

"I don't think it's a surprise," said Foley coach Todd Watson, who will serve as an assistant coach for the game. "The Mobile-Baldwin area has been a hotbed of talent for a long time. You look at the number of Hall of Famers in baseball or football that have come from the area, and every year a number of young men go on and play at the next level. This area has just always been talent-rich."

Alabama all-star team loaded with talent

Alabama does not take losing all-star high school football games to Mississippi lightly.

That's clear after the Alabama all-star team selections were released Wednesday by The Alabama High School Athletic Association. An impressive array of coaching and playing talent awaits Team Mississippi on Dec. 14 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile.

They'll be charged with making sure The Magnolia State doesn't turn last season's 28-7 victory into a winning streak. Alabama will bring a host of talent to Mobile for the 21st annual all-star event.

Mississippi All-Star roster

Here's Mississippi's 37-man roster for the 22nd All-Star Classic against Alabama, which was chosen Wednesday at the Mississippi Association of Coaches office in Clinton

The game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 13 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile with kickoff at 1 p.m.

Just a quick note, though. Only two of the 11 eligible members of the Dandy Dozen (Magnolia Heights ATH Cameron Lawrence plays in the MPSA and isn't eligible) weren't picked: Tupelo QB Chris Garrett and Louisville QB Clayton Moore.

Harris rounds out an athletic secondary made up of standouts Keshun Cowan and Rod Woodson of Olive Branch, Khairi Usher of Meridian, Martez Thompson of Pascagoula and Montez Phillips of Lafayette County.

Ala., Miss. all-stars set for classic

The all-star season is upon us and that means that Mobile, Ala., will be crawling with some of the top senior football prospects in the states of Mississippi and Alabama as they prepare for the 22nd annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic.

Last season, Alabama entered the contest with two five-stars on its roster in Julio Jones and Burton Scott while Mississippi had none. However, a week of practice and a decisive 26-7 Mississippi victory went a long way to awarding two five-stars to the Mississippi roster.

Deandre Brown picked up a fifth star after already being considered an elite receiver nationally. Alonzo Lawrence also picked up a fifth star, coming from relative obscurity on the national scene to one of the most highly recruited prospects late in the process.

As he gets ready for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game, LaDarius Perkins notes he is still in touch with the Tigers.

Greenville, Miss.--If summer Auburn commitment LaDarius Perkins has a guy he wants to see as Auburn’s next head football coach, he is keeping it to himself right now.

The 5-9, 185-pound All-State running back from St. Joseph’s High School says, “To be honest, it matters, but I just want to see who we get first and find out more about him,” Perkins tells Inside the Auburn Tigers.

Josh Hollingsworth to AL/MS All-Star Game

Josh Hollingsworth was chosen as an alternate for the Alabama All-Star roster, so he figured his opportunity to play in the game was gone. A recent development has awarded Hollingsworth the opportunity to play one more high school game before he becomes a Bulldog.

Josh Hollingsworth is a Mississippi State commitment, and he is one of two quarterbacks scheduled to play in the upcoming Alabama – Mississippi All-Star Game in Mobile, (Ala.).

I merged your question into this thread. On the first page, in the first post of this thread the date and time of the game are listed. The Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic, scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 13 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Alabama.

At the end of the interview A.J. said that he expects Bama to sign Rueben Randle after talking to him. Hopefully he is right about that. It is a good interview with some good insight on McCarron.
