all the oregon hype

I don't mean that it's not important in that sense. It's still just as important as every single other game. However it now becomes less of late season bump, not as strong as a springboard to propel Oregon into the NCG if other competition is close behind. Hope someone knocks out FSU and Clemson. Those teams stand no chance against Alabama and I doubt many people besides their own fans want to see them in that game.
If you win out, it will not matter. Same thing for Alabama. The rest of college football is just watching and hoping that one (or both) fail so their team gets a shot.

The winner of FSU vs Clemson will have a very strong case as they are both excellent teams.

I think maybe they are.

Maybe - no way of knowing until they play each other and then FSU plays Florida. We found out that Georgia is not as good as we thought. The only "big" win between the two of them is the nail biter that Clemson had with Georgia. In other words, we don't know much about them.

I guess Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina are scrub teams.

True if Clemson wins out, that means they would have beaten a healthy UGA, FSU, South Carolina and win the ACC. Not scrub teams to me. But it doesn't matter, if Bama and Oregon win out...they will not overtake Oregon's spot.

South Carolina is good, but no where near national championship good. Their equivalent would be UCLA in the PAC. Georgia can no longer be considered a contender with their massive injuries. Florida also is just an OK team this year. They beat a Tennessee team that Oregon shredded by only 14 points. Their offense is not very good.

They beat GA - they have not played USCe yet.

Everyone thought Ole Miss was pretty good, until after we played them: undefeated, ranked, great recruiting class, "dual threat" qb, picked by concussion prone Desmond Howard to upset us.

Oregon's opponents:
Nicholls St 4-2 (you've got no business playing that game)
Virginia 2-4
Tenn 3-3
Cal 1-5
Colorado 2-3
#16 Wash 4-2

Where's the beef in that schedule? One FBS team with a winning record. Second best team played is Tennessee. It's likely that every team in the top 10, maybe even top 20 would be undefeated playing that schedule.

Bama on the other hand:
Va. Tech 6-1 with Bama giving them their only loss, currently ranked in top 20
Texas A&M 5-1 with Bama giving them their only loss, at home, ranked 6th when we played
Colorado St 2-4
Ole Miss 3-3, covered above
Ga. State 0-6, we have no business playing them, at least they are an FBS team
Kentucky 1-5, same team that lost to Louisville by 14, Florida, by 17, S. Carolina by 7

Our Ole Miss win matches up comparably to your Washington win, but I'm not seeing anything in your other games that come close to our VT and A&M wins.

Sagarins most recent schedule strength ratings:
Oregon - 67
Alabama - 36

So, I'm left with the belief that all those pundits beating the duck drum are folks just wanting anyone other than Alabama to hang their hat on.

Clemson's SOS will almost certainly be a good bit higher than Oregon's at the end of the season.

Both Clemson and FSU have a tougher SOS than Oregon at this point in the season.

There's no possibility of that. Oregon has beat WA, will have to beat Stanford and most likely UCLA, twice. Stanford and WA are road games. Oregon's schedule is stronger than theirs by a longshot.

Very true B1G. It's a long season with several good teams that have a shot. Oregon is a good team for sure as are the others mentioned. Ohio St and Louisville certainly can't be counted out. Alabama is improving but we still have a long way to go IMHO.

To be fair Oregon is a good team. I do have to say that I believe Bama would win the game (all things being equal as in no injs on either side etc). I think we would be able to control the ball and keep Mariota on the sidelines and he can't score td's from there (aren't I the resident genius? No comments please in order to spare my feelings.....haha).
