Just Curious. What is your starting 5 and 1 backup at each position, using only players that were Coached by CMG @ Bama. Here's mine:

STARTERS/BACKUP

PG - R. Steele/A. Pettway
SG - M. Williams/E. Shetlon
SF - K. Winston/ G. Wallace
PF - C. Davis / R. Hendrix
C - E. Dudley/J. Davidson

Thats about the way I'd like to see it.

I believe I'd rather have shelton starting at a shooting guard position than Williams. Pettway has a place on the team but I think Williams would be the backup point guard. I'd also add Grizzard backing up Kennedy.

I agree that Mo should be the backup point, also I'd have Rod at the 2 and keep Gerald at the 3. Rod was just such a dangerous shooter, especially if he was hot.:) Even though Richard has only played one season, I would take him over Kenny Walker too. The rest looks pretty good. I wish we had a team of this caliber every year!

Pettway has a special place in my heart. I have Pett and RS as my PG, because they seem to be more pure PG's. I seem to remember Mo as pure offense, so I decided to put him at SG. I don't have Rod, outside of the SEC tourn. game against TN(like 30 points) and a few games early in his career, he was another J. Felix to me. Very athletic, but didn't seem to playing with his head a lot of times. I loved E. Dudley, and Kenny Walker was a good role player to have with him. I'd rather have Hendrix, Chuck D, and JD to rotate w/ ED between the 4 and 5 positions. That's my opinion at least.

Gottfried Bama Depth Chart

Based on their play at Bama mine are

Point G: Steele / Williams / Pettway
Shooting G: Shelton / Williams
Small F: Winston / Grizzard
Power F: Davis / Wallace / Walker
Center: Dudley / Davidson

A couple notes: Pettway played point guard really only his senior season. Gerald Wallace played power forward his 1 year at Bama. Mo Williams was a scoring point guard and worked at shooting guard at times his last season so I put him in both spots.

Tell me the comparison to Felix is a joke. Rod was a consistent scorer/contributor throughout his career at UA.
During his freshman year, Rod averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds per game. During his sophomore year, Rod averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds per game. During his junior year, Rod averaged 14 points and 6 rebounds per game. Rod was one of the best scorers to play under CMG. He was no Jean Felix...

Yeah, I agree with you. Rod was streaky at times like Felix, but he was a far more consistent scorer and shooter when compared to Jean.

I see Rod as an extremely athletic basketball player, who played excellent defense. Same as J. Felix. Rod was a little more of an offensive force than Felix, however, they were both streaky, and didn't take very good shots a lot of times. That is how I made my comparison.

Sorry if I didn't see him the same as you.

Absolutely NOT most of there shots. Anyway, I just want to hear other Bama fans depth chart, not focusing on any negatives. I'm just happy to have had all the players that have worn crimson, and I'm not trying to take anything away from any of them.

ROLL TIDE!!

That is pure insanity. RS is one of the best ball handlers I've ever seen, far superior to Mo Williams.

Yeah, but I like Steele moving without the ball. I think he is a great PG, I would like for him to be able to come off screens so he can look for his shot without having to worry about running the O.

Kenny Walker needs a spot on this team. He was a very strong compliment to Dudley.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I wouldn't even think to put Kenny Walker on that squad. My memory might be faulting me but I could have sworn that his hands were on par with Evan Brock. Lots of traveling calls, dropped passes, and turnovers.

Kenny wouldn't have made my top two at PF, but he was a much better player than Evan (no offense to Evan).

Grizzard was a big underachiever........and I don't recall him being a defensive force........at all. With regards to Walker, he made alot of mistakes, but like Jamereo.....improved each year (unlike Evan)......

PG - Steele
SG - Shelton
SF - Winston
PF - Dudley
C - Jamereo

Bench: Mo Williams, Kenny Walker, Richard Hendrix, Antoine Pettway, Jean Felix, Terrance Meade, and Evan Brock.

You can all put Wallace in there if you want to......but he did virtually NOTHING for us in his one year. He had two decent games at the end of the season, and was a turnover machine for most of the year. Yes, he's a talent, and yes, he's in the NBA now......but not one of the best. Alot of you forget how much Kenny meant to us the last year as Dudley started to fade (mostly due to double teams).....and Terrance Meade won more than a few games for us in his career. Brock and Felix to me are just great hustle guys you'd want on your team from time to time. Which is why they made my 12........

You mean the same Gerald Wallace who scored a franchise high 41 points the other night?

I agree that he was a waste when he was at Bama. He should have gone pro right out of high school. I have to admit it was fun watching him dunk though.

RTR!

I agree with you to some extent. You've got to admire the effort that Brock and Felix put forth when they were on the floor, and yes Rod wasn't the greatest of defenders. But there's no way I would put Brock and Felix on the team ahead of Grizzard and Wallace. While Wallace didn't make a huge impact his one year at the Capstone, he was a high energy guy who did alot of things while he was on the court, both offensively and defensively. And say what you will about Rod, but he was many, many, many times better on the offensive end than both Evan and Jean. But hey, you have your take, and I have mine. As they say, reasonable minds can differ.:)

My feeling about Wallace is that if we're picking a team that played at Alabama, then I wouldn't want him as one of my top 12. Grizzard perhaps over Evan and Felix, but........you have to have some role players on your team, and I think i'd prefer those two fellas because of what that mean to me (I qualified that......) as someone I'd want on my 12 man roster.....
