And they say Alabama Football fans are crazy

A Sooner fan and good friend called me after our win Saturday. Wished BAMA the best this week. We talk football, family and good old days that have passed us by, but mostly football, with respect and a knowledge of the others program and tradition. We always end with a ROLL TIDE & BOOMER SOONER!

Two things:

- The guy who did this is a deacon in his church? Surely he is now a former deacon.

- Did anyone else catch that the victim is a meat cutter for Sam's? How ironic is that?

No time off work either... Holy crap... I believe that I would have to take at least a couple of days off...

Ya'll don't believe that article do you? I am sure that he didn't "Ask to pay his tab" I am sure that there was more than that said. Regardless, there is absolutely no excuse for that...

And before we go calling another fanbase crazy... Didn't one of our own almost shoot his son a couple of years ago because he asked for a car after a Bama loss?

Jeeaz. A 53 year old church deacon did this?

Sounds pretty ungodly to me. You don't usually think about grabbing a dude by the balls in a bar fight. It sure doesn't sound like a tough guy Texas saloon brawl you'd expect like in that old movie "Road House". Times change I guess. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Well since we are on the subject and it was in the article... I don't think I own a pair of white shorts... And if I did I don't know if I would wear them to a bar... Maybe the sooner thought he was coming on to him or something?:D

This is old news.
This thread is portrays that this just happened. It happened weeks ago (3 months?) and it DID make national media outlets immediately after it's release, I read it then (not only locally) myself.
In essence, are you guys just now hearing about this?
Now that legal actions are in motion, it makes news again, as if it's new I suppose.

Sooner fans are right up there with LSU fans. They've always been pretty vile, although much worse than LSU. I actually like a lot of LSU fans, so I shouldn't insult them by comparing them to Oklahoma.

Hey Mav (and everyone),
Please don't take me as biased one way or the other.
I am Alabamian, and a Tide Fan, and only out here in OKC since then end of January.

My observations and minglings with the OU, as well as the OSU fans, make me differ greatly with Mav's 'pretty vile' and 'right up there' comparisons to anyone, LSU (later defended), or otherwise. The mentioned writer seems to have more against Sooners than I care to qoute or call out.

Quite an unwarranted comparison of Sooner Fans to others, especially as a result of what happens between two drunk individuals in a bar, no matter where they are, or who they are for.

How are things where the Garth Brooks water tower stands? lol

Not to seem smart-alicky, but again, is there not anyone else out who read about this wacky incident in the media outlets, (yep, it went nationally), 3 months ago?

I failed to notice.

My eyes (and heart) keep looking to the east (Southeast, that is!)

Yep, been there and done that during my school years there. It really is a great place to live after you get used to. Won't find nicer people in the nation and the most awesome weather anywhere (if you like severe weather like I do...lol).
