we could just put a ban on being stupid publicly but it would get awful quiet around hereBan knives. Ban baseball bats. Ban tire irons. Ban 2x4s. Ban shovels. The list of inanimate objects to ban grows every day.

Well there's the problem right there. It’s been codified in pretty much every legal system and code of ethics that has ever existed.
“We’re not emphasizing that murder is wrong! It’s in code so it’s unclear!” is a nonsense response and hardly worth my time.Well there's the problem right there.
It's in code....

Please tell me you know what "codified in pretty much every legal system" means.Well there's the problem right there.

chanson was being sarcastic. Everything you’re suggesting, we already have. The law is that common set of values.Given the confines and target audience of his request its about the best you can do.
These were a close second: Serve the public trust, protect the innocent, and uphold the law
Interesting...maybe an obscure movie reference to the duality of man or something the kid just thought was “neat” given what he had planned? The shooter wore a "Born to Kill" tee shirt?
Hmmmm....wonder why that would raise any suspicion?

That's very extreme. Limit the number of entrances to help guard them? Yes. Only have one entrance? Nope. Nope. Nope.https://twitter.com/abc/status/https://twitter.com/tomnamako/status/997557776850268162?s=21
Wonder what the fire Marshall would have to say about this suggestion.
That's a bad idea for a variety of reasons.....Oh, really? Because you said no blue font, which indicates you were serious.

Ok so we have the what. Now lets focus on the how. What is the plan for making everyone believe in and follow it? Is it a federal government thing? Or is this a thoughts and prayers approach type deal? This value: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you:
do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

I think it would do the opposite because everyone would accuse each other of being stupider than each other.we could just put a ban on being stupid publicly but it would get awful quiet around here
What is sarcastic? I just figured he needed it drawn in crayon is all.chanson was being sarcastic. Everything you’re suggesting, we already have. The law is that common set of values.

I work at an architectural firm that does mostly K-12 schools and there are a ton of egress exits. In case of a fire (or any emergency evac.), you need them. Imagine trying to get 300-600 people out of one main entrance/exit. International Building Code and the Life Safety Code sets the number of exits based on a mathematical formula that goes off room type and square footage of room type. It can get real complicated and there are travel distances involved and a whole slew of other things. Plus every state and county and sometimes city is different in determining what these books of rules actually mean. I suppose you could have all non “main entrances/exits” locked. They would only unlock when the fire alarm goes off. We did this for a government building that had security issues, but this can get expensive.https://twitter.com/abc/status/https://twitter.com/tomnamako/status/997557776850268162?s=21

Yeah...emphasis should not be on how to fortify our schools in that fashion.I work at an architectural firm that does mostly K-12 schools and there are a ton of egress exits. Looks like your first steps on the road to returning our society to the common values of respect and decency is going well. What is sarcastic? I just figured he needed it drawn in crayon is all.
The longer I hang around the internet the more I realize Thanos was on to something.Looks like your first steps on the road to returning our society to the common values of respect and decency is going well.![]()
You just know someone of authority will eventually suggest it. They will come to us architects and ask us to have it priced.Yeah...emphasis should not be on how to fortify our schools in that fashion.
This stuff is systemic in nature.
This just happened today and more will come out in the coming days about red flags that were ignored.
Plus from what was reported - the two guns were his Dad's. I wonder how they were secured?
