We wouldn't get an "extra" scholarship so to speak. The player wouldn't sign a scholarship. He'd be classified as a walk-on.
I think he means it wouldn't count against either annual or total limits, so it does "free up" a scholly...

The player would count towards the total 105, though; wouldn't he? For instance, a player that gets to Bama through the Bryant scholarship still counts towards the 105 total but not the 85 scholarship limit, correct?I think he means it wouldn't count against either annual or total limits, so it does "free up" a scholly...
Might want to check that link.
:BigA:I think the guy you are speaking of is from Russellville and has a satlelight repair business. He was also big on the Colloway saga and the Gadsden thing. Total lunatic. As it has been since Saban arrived, each and every vehicle driven by a player on scholarship is vetted in detail - title traced and family required to show proof of means to purchase. Ignore all AU posts about vehicles. The NCAA has ignored all of their attempts to incite investigation and Bama fans should also. In Dre's case, their resident gumshoe (I think he has a burglar alarm company, or something like that), "IronTiger," I believe, made up a huge package of "proof of wrongdoing" and sent it to the NCAA and Finebaum. At the cost of $150,000 we had an outside law firm do an investigation which made his "report" look amateurish, which is what it was. Result - none, but they'll keep trying. It's past weird to be haunted by the dirtiest team in the league...
I think he's talking about the "recruited walkon" rule where, if they've been recruited, receive a scholly, and play within two seasons, they back-count. This has been applied mostly to the Bryant Scholarship guys. He needs to repost the link. The rules are fiendishly complex, as usual with the NCAA...Might want to check that link.
I've mentioned that rule on the recruiting board. Some have said that's not the case and given other explanations. Like you said, the rules are complex.I think he's talking about the "recruited walkon" rule where, if they've been recruited, receive a scholly, and play within two seasons, they back-count.
