Armadillos ... help

I really really hate these critters. I trap and remove them and spray around with critter ridder, but they are winning the war. Anybody got anything that has worked for them? Thanks for any advice.

Forget that! Their brains are so small, it's about like trying to hit a possum's. I had some armor piercing pellets for my German pellet gun, but I traded the gun. Besides, I found out that eat both grubs and ticks, so I decided to put up with them...

An armadillo is the only thing I have ever intentionally killed. Had one in a burrow in my yard. Dogs went crazy. My wife-the brave member of the family- grabbed its tail but couldn't budge it. I got my trusty M-1 carbine and shot it 4 times before I pronounced it dead. Dogs did kill a small one.

I have no idea how to keep them from coming round. I see armadillo road kill up here all the time. Years ago had to go south of Montgomery to see an armadillo.

No, I'm not counting insects.

I would, in the past, say "just don't eat the gumbo in LA," but that turns out not to be true. There is evidence now of infection from casual contact, I believe...

When I lived out in the boonies, I'd shoot them pretty routinely. I was OK with them until I rolled my ankle in a hole one had dug while I was mowing.

They run like hell when a beer can is thrown at 'em; Lived with a creek in backyard in Salado,Texas, some summer nights it sounded like a shooting range with all the retired military firing at them in their yards.

What kind of foods do they like? Place some of this food on a busy road and they become "road kill". Get in your pickup and join the party of killing those armadillos. I think, before the Houston Texans became the Houston Texans, one suggestion was the Houston Armadillos. Ain't nothing good about these varmints.

Armadillos probably wouldn't get killed on the road so much if they didn't try to disguise themselves as speed bumps.

In case anyone else is having problems with them, I thought I would share what I have done and the results. I set up boards from their hole to funnel them into a live trap. I didn't even bait it. I "relocated" the ones I caught. I then sprayed a castor oil solution on my yard and flower/shrub beds. I bought 20lbs of ground red pepper and sprinkled it heavily around the holes and also throughout the flower/shrub beds. I haven't seen one or any evidence of one in 2 weeks. As a plus, no new chipmunk activity where I have used the red pepper but they are unaffected by the castor oil solution.

Good job

We've had moles and they are a pain too. We used a specific herbicide from the co-op that wiped out the grub worms. Once their food source disappeared they disappeared with them.
