Asked to SIT DOWN!!!!

I have a bad back and cant stand for long periods of time. I am sure there are others that are worse off than me. I sat most of the game and I did participate in the wave. I jumped up when we did well, but promptly sat down. I dont have a problem with people in front of me standing, but dont assume all people are prudes that dont stand the whole time.

with that, I do think you have a right to stand at the game.

(I did scream a bit at that game though. my throat is a bit hoarse :D )

Restaurants have smoking and non-smoking sections. (In many places, anyway... Most cities around Birmingham now allow no-smoking except where there are separate ventilation systems.)

Why not have standing and no-standing sections at the stadium. Those that don't ever want to have to stand can sit in the no-standing section.

I am a GENIUS... and modest also.

Sorry, I worked last night and might be still drunk. The problem was WITH THEM! If they had one at that game they probably had "it" before and after the game as well. The seat # telling you where to stand is great but, the party is in the student section.

I, too, got asked semi-politely ("Okay, guys, time to sit down) at least three times by a woman behind me who couldn't have been older than 35 - or approx our age. And she and her friend were not the season ticket holders and probably paid a fraction of what the tickets cost me with TP.

IMO, the fans have a responsibility to the team, and they cannot fulfill that responsibility sitting quietly on their duffs the entire game...

exactly, i explained that to my sister during the game, it is our responsibility to help in any way we can!! and it is one of the few sports that fans do have an impact. ULM had several false start penalties when the crowd was loud, and i told her -see, we are partly, if not totally responsible for that penalty--that is HELPING the team!! and i'm going to do it however i can!! i should have stood the whole game, too nice for my own good! I HATE sitting, no to mention my back and butt were hurting for spending to much time on that hard bleacher :)

Sigh, the old somebody told me to sit down thread.

Sigh, anyone not standing should stay home. What a moronic thought.

If it was standing only why are there seats? I stand when something is happening or something to cheer about but standing just to stand? It sounds like both parties can be as rude as the other.

I dont ask people to sit down but I do ask people to stop kicking me in the back and spilling drinks on me.

I say you should stand if you want to. If they want to sit they should stay home.
Public place and you paid for that piece of property for one event. No where on your ticket does it say you have to sit in your seat with your hands in your lap and only stand to leave your seat.
I got asked to sit down at the Ugaly v Flawrita game once. I asked the guy if he was hurt or for some reason couldn't stand. He said he paid for a seat and he wanted to sit. I said well sit there and be quiet I paid to be at the game and I was gonna stand and watch it.
He stood up and went to get a police officer to tell me and my group to sit down. The cop standing about five feet away told the guy that he can't tell us to sit down because we paid to be there same as he did. If you don't like the people standing and you don't like the noise DO NOT GO TO THE GAME! sit home and watch it on TV and tell you nasty kids to sit down.

At the Hawaii game there were a couple youngsters standing during the game. I sat two rows behind them and they were not bothersome. They stood up a lot and I don't mind that. The people sitting around me and them never once complained openly to them or anyone else. Well, after the first quarter, a security gaurd, instead of asking them to sit down, told them (quoting here): "Sit down or get out!" Again, they didn't stand the whole time. But moreso than others...and, frankly, when they stood were the times when everyone esle should have been standing.

And some of us wonder why B-D can't be an intimidating place to play. We have people employed to tell others to sit down.

but whoever said you come off as the bad guy--that is true. and that's sad!

That is the most disturbing part to me. Maybe one day BDS will be a place where EVERYBODY stands no matter the situation - a la the STUDENT SECTION!
In the meantime, continue your UPRIGHT SUPPORT of the TIDE!

RTR-stop the streak

The only time I have a problem with people standing is when the wave comes around. I hate that and would love to sucker punch the loser that starts it.

He sits in the north end zone on the west side of the hash mark.
He tried his best to get it going during the Hawaii game. He was running up and down the walkway.

What if you take your kids to the game and they can't see a thing? You take them there to enjoy the whole atmosphere and all they can see is someone's backside.Maybe what we need is a parents w/kids section, a sitting section, a standing only section, and a sometimes standing section.

It is good to see a more vivacious crowd. BD use to remind me of the forty-niners fans.

AMEN.

Hello, 1984 called...they want their stupid stadium "wave" back.

Ugh.

I stand alot at games and have never been asked to sit, but at the Vandy game we had a girl and her mom sit behind us and the girl talked on her cell phone the whole game. At one point she even said "Oh my god if these people would be quiet I might could hear" I could not believe someone would say that at a football game! Luckily they left at the start of the fourth quarter.

What a waste of a good ticket.

When I take my boys, we walk around a lot so they can see everything. There are plenty of places in most stadiums to take kids to see the action. We usually don't spend much time in our seats...

You're kidding?! I cannot believe someone would ask you to sit down at a football game! I was being freakin hit in the head with a shaker the entire game, but not once did I ask the person behind me to stop.... You are at a football game.... it's all a part of the fun, love, and excitement.

I will continue my upright support of the tide, just going to try and do it from the student section from now on --not a student anymore, but those are my people! :) we were only about two sections from them and wanted to jump the fence so bad!! :)

Sigh, anyone not standing should stay home. What a moronic thought.

while i would LOVE it if everyone would stand, i understand that isn't realistic. people are going to sit, fine. doesn't necessarily mean you should stay home...but if you have to sit, leave me alone! don't expect me to sit there--because that DOES take away some of my enjoyment, alot in fact.

i do think everyone that can should stand when our defense is on the field especially on 3rd down. ....i have no doubt you are louder if you are standing, can put more into your screams. :)
