Evaluating the coaching staff - outside of Saban, is the staff being assembled better than 2023 coaches?
Grubb>Rees
Huff>Wolford
Wommack is said to be good, but then Steele did a great job in 2023. Wommack remains to be seen.
I think Shephard>Wiggins in DeBoer's offense. Linquist and Hitschler look to be great hires, but I don't know much about them.

Wommack is an upgrade over steele given how much Saban and Trob had to do to help, we will see as far as his linebacker coaching. As a recruiter he's an improvement, steele didn't seem to do much on the road this year. I liked bala but hadn't heard much of him as a recruiter

Shephard is an improvement from a development standpoint regardless the offense. We will see as a recruiter, I imagine he will do fine.

The only potential question is if our db coaches are an upgrade to trob. Development wise there's a good shot their are at least equal and both have had good success recruiting.

We will wait to see if our last hire will be an improvement over hutlzler, who as a developer produced big time.olbs...but its fair to ask how much he had to do with will and Dallas and Braswell. Maybe a lot (if so its hard to upgrade) maybe minimal. He was also a solid recruiter. Not as good as Roach or Gillespie but solid.

It’s massively better across the board than any staff under CNS in at least 7-8 years.

Off the Top of my head Kiffin/Pruitt is the only OC/DC combo that’s better but that’s not even taking position coaches into consideration.

This is going to be a GREAT group of coaches.

My former work colleague is a big UK fan and is
having a come apart over Wolford returning to Lexington. Says “he sucked at USCe, sucked when he was here, and then sucked at Alabama. And now UK is bringing him back? It’s like having a recurring nightmare…” 😂😂😂

UPDATE ...

We hate having to take names out of bold, which is why I wait these things out as much as possible, but it looks like Jerret McElwain got a promotion to stay out west. He's now Director of Scouting for UW and not expected to join the staff. David Cooper's name has come up several times for a staff position and will probably land in the role that McElwain was being tabbed for, presuming Georgia doesn't find a way to hold onto him.

If there's just one more on-field coach to be had, we expect it to be William Inge as Edge/OLB coach. Joe Cox is still in the mix for something, and we've said a few times now that the new staff was hoping to find a spot for him. Whether both can be hired, I can't say. There is soon expected to be an expansion of staff limits in the NCAA, whether it's at the general FBS level or whether it comes as part of the "Division Zero" concept for ultra-large schools. Could Cox be kept off the field until such an expansion happens? Again, not sure.

I'm also not ruling out Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix for a job with a nice profile. He, Denzel Devall and Josh Chapman were sent out on the road to recruit for a bit while the staff was taking shape. I would fully expect Clinton-Dix to go back to that role if something doesn't open up on the field. For now, I've put Devall and Chapman under a heading I've called "General Staff" and Clinton-Dix will go there as well presuming he doesn't land as a position coach.

He hadn't changed his social media as of a couple of hours ago but we'll go ahead and take him out.

EDIT: He's still listed on the UA staff page as well. Waiting for official confirmation on this before taking him down but I wouldn't be surprised if he is moving on. Just a numbers thing.
