UPDATE ...
We hate having to take names out of bold, which is why I wait these things out as much as possible, but it looks like Jerret McElwain got a promotion to stay out west. He's now Director of Scouting for UW and not expected to join the staff. David Cooper's name has come up several times for a staff position and will probably land in the role that McElwain was being tabbed for, presuming Georgia doesn't find a way to hold onto him.
If there's just one more on-field coach to be had, we expect it to be William Inge as Edge/OLB coach. Joe Cox is still in the mix for something, and we've said a few times now that the new staff was hoping to find a spot for him. Whether both can be hired, I can't say. There is soon expected to be an expansion of staff limits in the NCAA, whether it's at the general FBS level or whether it comes as part of the "Division Zero" concept for ultra-large schools. Could Cox be kept off the field until such an expansion happens? Again, not sure.
I'm also not ruling out Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix for a job with a nice profile. He, Denzel Devall and Josh Chapman were sent out on the road to recruit for a bit while the staff was taking shape. I would fully expect Clinton-Dix to go back to that role if something doesn't open up on the field. For now, I've put Devall and Chapman under a heading I've called "General Staff" and Clinton-Dix will go there as well presuming he doesn't land as a position coach.
