JessN: Assistant coach hiring tracker...

And this is where a lot of opinions on how people felt it "should" have been handled are coming out. Granted, there isn't a right or wrong answer, just preferences and nothing more than a "If I were the HC I would have done this..." type of scenario, which is one of the purposes of online message boards, is to give opinions and then discuss.

Personally, if I'm Deboer and if Grubb "was not enthusiastic" about making the move then he wouldn't have been a part of my plan, period. Granted, that's just me and once again, there isn't a right or wrong answer. But no way I'm bringing a guy on that I know his heart isn't in it from the get-go ad no way he's getting anywhere near a player or parent I'm recruiting. . From my experience, regardless of the situation, just isn't good practice and doesn't end well for anyone.
We don't really know what all Grubb thought or had in his heart. It was apparent, though, from one comment he made on Twitter, he wanted to stay in Washington State. But it was just one comment. And had the Seahawks position not come up, he would have been OK at Alabama as a good career move, although he likely wouldn't have stayed but a year or two. We're not privy to everything that goes on behind the scenes. But it is fun to analyze everything from every possible angle, and make guesses. I hope DeBoer makes an announcement today or tomorrow.

It is very possible that Grubb has helped to solidify Williams signing (sure, there were other factors, like truckload of $$$, etc.). In his post-official interview , Williams was very high on how Grubb has shown to him on how he’d fit into the new offense.
So, it was not all negative with Grubb being in Tuscaloosa for a month.

We can officially say that if Williams is still here after the spring portal closes. If not, put on your goggles, mouthpiece in, and helmet tightly strapped on, because there will be "doo-doo" flying evah-wur on this board if he bolts.

Granted, I don't expect that to happen, but I was also the idiot who said "I'm now more comfortable that Grubb isn't leaving" literally a day or two before he bolted. So there ya go...

I'm at the point that if the kids want to be here, fine...if not, that's also fine.

Everything has gotten really stupid really fast with college football.

It's like it went from the players being institutionalized by the NCAA to the lunatics running the asylum in like 10 seconds.

I don’t like the way Grubb departed but his number loyalty should be to his family.

IF he/they weren’t comfortable with the move then he had to do what he had to do for his family.

It may sting some people, but it is what it is.
I get it. I’ve had to make choices about relocating for career opportunities and advancement in the past. In the end, I chose to stay put because it wasn’t worth the risk of disturbing the family dynamic.

My gut tells me even if these other positions never came through, Grubb’s family would have remained in Seattle. Divided families and divided attentions aren’t generally good predictors of success.

Ultimately, they will put restrictions on the transfer portal. I'm just not sure what event or events will have to take place for that to happen. But this type of transfer portal isn't sustainable long term for the health of college football.

I know we'll be fine, but man, I'm disappointed we didn't go after Kirby Moore. Going in house for a vacancy like this is always incredibly underwhelming.

I'll trust CDK until he shows me I can't. Also, these two dudes are becoming highly hot ticket items on the list of "coaches on the rise". I'll reserve judgment until I see the product they put on the field.
