Speaking of "big" running backs---has anyone heard where Jovon Robinson is in prep school? Nothing being said in Memphis. Makes me think he may not make it back in January after all. They are also completely serious that he will be a re-sign in February.

The first I heard of anything with Trooper was last week on Finebaum.

Caller said he heard a recruit had a Facebook post about not hearing anything from Trooper or Auburn in awhile, so the guy asked if something was up with Trooper. Finebaum said he didn't know, but there are some reporters trying to find out. He went on to say, "I can tell you this: if you were to call the Auburn athletic department and ask about a NCAA investigation, you won't get an answer."

Coaches can go out and watch players at this time as chiznik was over in muscle shoals here in the last couple of weeks watching liner from the sidelines. Word is trooper has been taken off the road so this leads me to believe he is not making any of these game -pospect visits on Fridays. I know we don't do rumors here but Finebaum sounded pretty credible in saying he had spoken to someone in the know at the farm and they would not comment on trooper. Trooper Taylor's buyout is $1m bucks. He may be the guy that spills the beans on them if he goes down. Who else is going to hire him with his rep?

If you have the details like date and approximate time, you can email the Finebaum show in 11 months and 3 weeks and perhaps they can find the archive of that call and play it on the air...that would certainly stir the pot as he (Finebaum) is wont to do.

What's even funnier is, compare our dark days to the barn's current state. I know our 1997 team was better than this current barn team, but now, I'm starting to think that even our teams in 2000 and 2003 were better as well. None of those teams ever started 1-5. Plus, think about this. We had seasons of 3-8, 4-9, 6-6, and 6-7 after being debilitated by probation. When we were at our worst, we at least had sanctions as a reason why things were so bad. Can they say the same? They certainly can't say they have been crippled by sanctions.

He is right. On 12/31/2006, the league in general and Auburn (Tubbs) in particular could work relatively hard and have good success but still go duck hunting in Arkansas.

It all changed when the jet went wheels up from Miami and the outstanding coach with relentless drive met up with a program to match it and working relatively hard wasn't good enough any more.

Rick and Bubba talked about this exact mindset this morning and made some very good points. Rick spoke about how Auburn fans were all about character and morals and what a great Christian man Chizik was (is) when he was hired. They adored him and talked about how wonderful it was to have a man of God as their football coach. They were ALL IN and it was a GOD thing. Fast forward two years and a 1-5 record and they don't care about morals or character--they only care about winning football games--so much so as to want a coach who is a proven liar and philanderer by the name of Bobby Petrino. Rick was pretty disgusted by it as he has a son on the AU football team. This speaks volumes as to what their fan base is all about. I just wonder if hearing Rick Burgess say it will have an effect on any of those "fair weather" fans?

Belle, we've had this discussion---that bunch of baby chicks will accept, justify and proclaim as saintly what ever Rane, Lowder, Harbert, and Dye tell Jacobs to do. They'll spin it as the greatest thing to ever happen on the plains, plug the network back up and be off an running. No one is going to stand up---if they do they'll be outcast from the family---just like the journalism department.
