I would go further and would question if our recruiting is falling off.

It is likely that we will lose 3-5 games next year. We weren't able to replace Barrett Jones or Jesse Williams this year and will not be able to replace A.J next year.

JessN should have given AU the edge in the line match-ups. Their lines won the LOS battles all day! I am not sure about Coach Cristobal!

My reaction to the game today is the same as some of the members here. Very disapointed that the last second ever happened , but it did. Never in a thousand years did I anticipate that the Orbun return man in the e-zone would haul a-- to the other end and score a td , that would be curtains for our 3peat try, but he did. Next thing for Bama is a bowl game, somewhere. We as Bama fans need not be devisive and remember where we've been and realize that criticism probably won't help a d--- thing. The Orbuns of the world will provide all the negative yuk we can stand. The coaches , trainers, asst coaches , PLAYERS , and FANs , we all need encouragement. Let's
get through morning , moaning, cussin, and cryin and focus on another championship run, starting with the bowl game. Thanks for reading this , hope I didn't offend yall. ROLL TIDE !!!! :BigA: JR

IMO: We were poorly prepared. (Mentally)
Looks like Gus out coached us today.
We performed poorly. All phases of the game.
Offense was out of synch.
We tackled poorly. (Hate arm tackles)
Defense was punched around by smaller, less talented guys.
We were out of position, and kept falling for Gus's 'Smoke and Mirrors'.
Special teams was rather ordinary.
Our game plan wasn't up to par.
We whiffed on that one...
And the last play... (Sigh)
Not a great idea to attempt a 57 yd. Field Goal, when our Kicking game was AOL.

Mostly our mortal enemies wanted it more than we did today.
It hurts to say that.

This was a day we all knew would eventually come.
I really hate it happened against Auburn.

Still...
Our coaching staff guided us thru a 11-1 Regular season.

Today we played like we were expecting someone else to step up and make the plays.
Didn't happen.
Gonna be a long year of listening to Auburn fans 'Crow'.

If you've ever read any if JIB's posts, all he likes to do is stir the pot. Claims to be a Bama fan, but spends most of his time defending his mostly anti-Tide posts...As far as the game went, lots of things went wrong tonight and we didn't play like the #1 team in the country, but we'll be back on top again, with the best coach in the country at the helm...Now's the time when we as fans show our true spirit, and to that I say Roll Tide!!!

We've been lucky to win a few games in our glorious run. We were lucky to even play for a national championship the last two years. Tonight, every bizarre twist and turn in the fourth quarter went Auburn's way, because we left the job undone. 90 percent of the time we win. But we could not get the yard or the block or the catch or the kick or the call when we needed it. Except we never should have needed it at all.

Congratulations to Auburn. Great season for us. Hard, hard night.

On my bucket list was to see Bama play in one National Championship before I died. New Orleans- not only accomplished but also won. Could the unthinkable happen? There is no way I could go and witness Bama win another National Title. Yep, Miami! Not once on those game days did I feel the anxiety of the moment as I have all day today. The fear of losing and having the dynasty stopped by Auburn had been in my head all day and I feared our players would play with that in their minds for 4 quarters. I too, hate that we lost this way. I thought Saban looked tight as a drum the whole game. All of our mistakes come back to one thing-- We were NEVER loose during the game. Having said that, I still can't believe I lived to see Alabama win two National Titles in person! Thanks to many of these players for giving me such joy throughout the last few years. And by the way, KEEP CALM- WE'RE STILL ALABAMA!! RTR

This is just me, but I just choose not to worry about what Auburn is going to do or what Gus is going to do. Our guys coming in tight as a tick and playing a bad game is no reason to get all alarmed about the future. Gus Malzahn is an up-and-comer. How do we even know how long he'll be at the Barn? Gus is about Gus - that's very evident. If a higher tier program comes calling, I believe he'd take it in a heartbeat...and don't think he won't be on some school's short lists in the future. Heck, I didn't even know if we'd win another National Championship after 2010, but we won 2 in a row after that. All sorts of things can happen. I think we'll be fine.

Jess, you should have waited til Monday to write this. Sorry but that's the truth. I'm not even close to questioning Saban at this point. Even with the best of everything, people, you are not going to win them all.
Don't understand what waiting until Monday would have accomplished, but it wouldn't make a difference in the substance of the article. There's no reason not to critique things when they aren't right.

Bama is 11-1 and has won three out of the last four natty's. Not sure what isn't "right."

Critiquing the game within the game is perfectly okay, but questioning Saban and his preparedness and importance in direct relation to Auburn and the rivalry is a tad bit unfair, in my opinion.

Earlier you mentioned the preparation and importance for Saban in this rivalry versus the LSU rivalry and its importance. Bama is 2-2 versus LSU in the last four match-ups in the regular season.

I can see why Mrs. Saban would use the word "spoiled."

i think one problem we have as a fan base "and it's totally ok because as a fan you can do what you like" is that most refuse to remove their crimson colored glasses. it's like everything is always "ok". there are no problems here nor there. then when something gets exposed or a loss happens they have no idea how to react. I remember seeing a post about this game going just like the Notre Dame game. People like that are just setting themselves up.

I agree with Jess on his post. It's acceptable to get beaten in what to date is the years most important game when we come in prepared and play to our talent and skill level, but to come into this game unprepared emotionally and have a poor showing in all aspects of the game deserves some questions.

I'm haunted by a post an LSU fan made here back in 2008. It went something like this: You can count on Nick to win every game he's supposed to win, and win most of the ones he's not supposed to win, but you can also count on him to lose one he's never supposed to lose.

Well, that's what happened today.

Great coaches find a way to adjust their schemes and philosophy as the game changes over time. CNS is going to have to learn to defend the HUNH because it's clear that more and more teams are employing it. He's going to have to find some flexibility in his thinking or his teams are going to get out-played at the most inopportune times. I place this loss on his plate and find myself saying "I hope it tastes bad going down and gets stuck in your craw because you've got to remember this and do better next time."

I have not hurt this bad since 1972, I was only 10 yrs. old, but my barner next door neighbors made me sick for a while after that game....Still, we are Alabama and we will be back. With the way Nick is recruiting, it will be sooner rather than later. I just hope coach Saban sticks around to watch these amazing recruits we have, develop. The future could be very bright if he hangs with us. Even if we had some bugaboo decisions made tonight, he is still the best in the business when it comes to recruiting, preparation, and steering this ship in the right direction. Who knows, if some more crazy stuff happens this year we may not be out of it yet. Always an optimist:tongue:

What was said about Saban by the LSU fan could be said about any great coach. Even Bear got out coached from time to time. He was always man enough to admit it. After a couple of 6-5 seasons in the last sixties some Bama fans were about ready to run him out of the state. The great coaches learn from their mistakes and come back stronger. Saban has won 3 NC titles in the last four years since the ULM debacle. I believe he will win a few more before he retires.

I think Jess is spot on in what seems to be our team's mental approach to auburn. We get pumped for LSU and have had emotional hangovers after those games. We don't see the same energy against auburn.

The game today left plenty of blame for players and coaches, but I hope to see our team as focused on auburn as they are on us in the future.
