Auburns Offensive Line

I know that early last week Vlachos said that they had watch some film from last years Iron Bowl. Its a 4 game season now, and using the bye week to work on some of the things that they are going to see in the future is smart. Now its time to focus on LSU.

Like somebody mentioned earlier I think the fact that Auburn having 6 offensive linemen that are seniors, and seniors starting on other parts of the team has a lot to do with the the success they are having. I didn't realize how heavy laden their team is with seniors. Next year Auburn's staff has a major rebuilding project ahead of them.

I agree that AUs offensive line is doing a better job this year than last, but in every game I have seen this year, Lee Ziemba holds or blocks in the back at least three times a game. Of course they open the holes when this happens. I truly believe it will be a different ball game for them than what they have faced all year.

We are going to line up across from them and punch them dead in their mouths!

Well, after Cam, senior O line, Malzan are gone after this year, what will Aubbie do then? I do believe that Malzan will look at offers...he'd be crazy not to...some team out there will be looking for a HC and I believe that CGM is ready...

Auburn's OL is the best in the SEC...it's frustrating because they weren't supposed to be that good...we were supposed to have the best OL! *angrily stomps away*

In Cam's defense, he complemented them in one of his post game interviews a couple of weeks ago. The sideline reporter asked him about the "key" to his success and he said something to the effect of, "It's all about the big uglies up front."

Preston Dial was saying as much in an interview this week:

I think it bodes well for our game against Auburn...

Honestly though, LSU runs an option w/ one of their QB's that is similar to the barns. Therefore, it is OK to prepare for both at the same time. Plus, we had similar looks for Ole Miss too. The big difference is simply the quality of the people executing those plays.

I agree about the Barn O-line. Our D-line hasn't exactly exceeded expectations this year. I think our group has great potential to be good in the years to come with more development, but right now I'd give a slight edge on the LOS to the barn when they are on O. We haven't pressured or hurried any qbs all year long, I'd be shocked if we're able to do against CN. Of course, I look for him to be running it a lot more that day than passing it.

I think their O-line vs our D-line will be the key match up for the Iron bowl. The winner there probably wins the game. Certainly hoping our D-line is much more healthy and improved after the bye week. But in all honesty after playing LSU and Miss.St. I don't know how much the rest thing will come into play. I don't even know if I would play my starters against Georgia St. Especially not after the first quarter for sure.

I missed that interview. And I think from here on out I will be missing a lot more. Well at least up till his interview after Bama beats them.

Cam is a great player and all but their O-line makes his life much much easier. I have yet to hear him compliment his line although admittedly I haven't heard everything he has had to say in interviews. But he owes them big time and Auburn's success is totally on their backs.

He pointed out that Chizik met with each lineman this past week to assure them they're appreciated. I conclude that's to patch up any rifts that might have arisen from Cam's "It's all about me!" approach to having the incredible season he's having.

I believe Cam Newton is too much in love with himself to think of complimenting the O line enough. His whole body language reads "Aren't I great?"

On Sunday nights, I record the Nick Saban Show, which is immediately followed by the Auburn version. Each week, I have about 30 seconds of the opening of the Aubie locker room speech at the end of the Saban recording. A week or so ago, Chizik singled out Cam and demanded that he lead the locker room in singing the fight song, adding, "We're gonna find out if you really know the words!!" Cam replied something like, "Wait! I can't do this without my boys helping me," and proceeded to call the offensive line over to surround him.

I honestly couldn't tell if he was trying to give his OL some credit, or if he really didn't know the words and just wanted to surround himself with enough players to disguise that fact. Either way, my recording stopped before the singing started.
