When the number of signees for this class was floating around at 22--I said we would finish #7. However, if we end up with 24-25--I suspect we will finish around #4 or #5. Scout...well--their rankings are a complete joke(they have the barn's class at #4 right now:eek2:)--so who knows where they would rank us. Maybe around #8 if we sign 25...and around #10 if we sign less. Have I mentioned that I hate Scout's recruiting department???

Can we keep this on permenant sticky for when people ask which is better Rivals or Scout?? That is an absolute joke!!

Any site (Scout.com) that has the barn ranked 5th and Bama ranked 12th in their Team Recruiting Rankings is not a site that I want to frequent or place much value on what they have to say about recruits in general. I know their barn ranking is base mostly on the high number of commits that they have but even with that Rivals and others recognize the quality is not in the barn quantity. lol On Rivals.com Bama is ranked 6th and the barn is ranked 12th and the best is yet to come with this Bama class and the barn is just about finished.

I will say that almost everyone knows that by NSD the barn will be nowhere to be found in the top 10. Well that is unless the People's Choice has a Team Recruiting Ranking poll. lol

I think this class may turn out to be just as good or better than last years.

Regardless of where it ends up in the rankings it's shaping up very nicely because we're adding much needed depth and some pretty incredible skill players, provided that we indeed sign most of our targets like Kirkpatrick, Kelly etc.

Yep, IMO after this year coach Saban will be, for the most part, concentrating on reloading and not so much on rebuilding when recruiting future classes. What a nice position to be in. It has been a long time coming.

:BigA: RTR!

It matters not, my fellow Bama fans, as long as we have Coach Nick and they don't.

"Set a course to Romulus Five, Sulu..warp speed'

"Aye, Captain!"

Funny thing is the barners are proud of their Scout ranking and ignore the underlying weakness in their recruiting class. To them three 2-star players > one 5-star player.

They say that because it gives them an excuse a few years down the road when they can't win a game. They will be able to blame the coach for a poor season because they will say that they had a highly rated class and they still didn't win. Then they will fire the coach and repeat the process

The #1 slot is certainly within our reach now IMHO, especially if we finish as strong as I believe we will. At the very least I seriously doubt we fall below #3.

:BigA:The #1 class now looks like a possibility now! When I originally voted I picked #2 but if we get both Randle and Kirkpatrick we will have 3 players that is is Rivals top 10 as well as the top player by Rivals in the country! We could possibly wind up with the top class again! Saban is building a dynasty and it seems as if top recruits would want to be a part of it. There is going to be a lot of top players that waited to long to get on board unless they are all ready silent commits! The class all ready has a lot of impact players that can start as freshmen!

Now they just have to figure out how to get away with getting 33 players on the field at the same time instead of 11.

I still say we will be 3rd by the end of it. While most of us know they're good talent...we do have probably more 3 stars than what LSU/Texas/USC will be bringing in. Unless a few get upgraded to 4* or unless we get Randle, Massie and/or Smith or Campbell... I don't see us finishing higher than 2.

I don't think the number one or number two spot is legitimately within reach unless we sign a good bit more than expected. As long as USC can add the quantity of players that they are expected to, I'm pretty sure that the top two will be USC and Ohio State (not necessarily in that order).

From there, though, I could see us legitimately fighting for third. The Texas class is going to be so small that, while great, it won't be able to fend off either Alabama or LSU. If I had to say one way or the other, I'd say that us and LSU will finish third and fourth, and the distinguishing factor will be Rueben Randle. If they get him, they'll finish third, and if we do then we'll finish third.

I personally think it would take a perfect storm for us to finish #1... We'd have to get Randle, sign more than expected, have USC's numbers taper off a bit, and we'd probably need Ohio State to miss out on Marcus Hall too. It could happen, but you'd have to be extremely intoxicated and playing with someone else's wallet to put money on it.

I think LSu will finish 1st

our silent committ Loston is a 5 star not listed yet

I really like our chances withthe other 2 5 stars in Randle and Debose

I think LSU ends up with 6 players that are 5 stars and the recruiting title

I could see that happening. I would keep my eye on Jenzen Jackson if i were you though. he may be looking around.

But that could legitimately happen. In fact, i'd be kind of surprised if most of that statement didnt come to fruition.

I don't necessarily disagree with how you guys will finish, but I really don't think it will be enough to get the number one overall spot. I do think you guys will get Loston, and honestly I don't know much about Debose, but arguendo I'll assume that you guys get him too (even though I think he may be a tough pull, though admittedly he really likes LSU, simply because he is the perfect type of player for the Florida offense, and the Gators have dang near made him priority #1, but nevertheless). That only leaves Randle in play.

Anyway, you guys are currently fourth in the Scout.com ratings, and the gap behind Ohio State is big. It's over 1,200 points right now, and that's bigger than the gap between 4th and 20th. Considering that Ohio State has at least one more five-star sitting on the board that they should get, I just don't see any way possible that you guys can get the number one ranking there. Barring a pretty big surge of decommitments from the Buckeyes -- which isn't happening as long as Tressel is there -- they've got the number one ranking with Scout.com wrapped up. Bottom line, the Scout.com recruiting title this year belongs to Ohio State.

Rivals could very well be a different story, though. You guys are #1 there right now, but by ungodly thin margins (a mere six points separate the top three). If USC can finish out there class like they are expected to, I think they should probably (slightly) edge you guys out. They've got at least three and maybe four five-stars left on the board, and they (according to my USC friend) should have room for a couple of other signees as well, so that should put them over the top. However, if you guys close like you should, I think you'll edge out Ohio State and get second.

If I had to wager right now, I'd say the smart money would be on you guys to finish second on Rivals, and third on Scout.com.

That said, though, things can change a pretty good bit, and other programs have a lot of high caliber players to add too. We're going to add at least two more five-stars (Kirkpatrick and Kelly), plus we have good shots to land a couple more (Massie and Randle), and that is to say nothing about the fact that Fluker should get a fifth-star with Scout.com and Nico Johnson should with Rivals. We're going to end up with 4-6 five-stars in our own right, and the same thing goes for USC and Ohio State as well. As mentioned earlier, USC will end up with 8-9 five-stars, and Ohio State is going to get at least five of them in their own right.

I think for you guys it will mainly come down to Randle. I know there is the possibility of losing Janzen Jackson to us (which I do not expect to happen, by the way), but Randle will likely be the difference. If you guys get him, I figure you guys finish second and third, but if we can steal him out of Bastrop, I think you guys probably fall to third and fourth and we pass you guys at least in one service, if not both. Again, though, as I've said before, I think the smart money is still on Randle staying in-state, so you guys will probably edge us out. Either way, it's going to be neck-and-neck, and both will be two really great recruiting classes.

And by the way, it's good to see some of you LSU guys back on the recruiting board. I guess it's just the fact that we are only battling over one common player in our respective classes, but either way most of you guys have been pretty scarce the past few months, so it's nice to see you return.

I think Debose goes to Florida. But if LSU decided to offer Christine Michael and he went there, it would really up their chances of finishing at the top.

I don't think LSU is gonna offer. They are gonna go hard after the 2010 running back Seastrunk. They think the only RB this year worth jeopardizing that is Trent Richardson. But Michael would most assuredly go to LSU if he could.

Any updates/projections on our final ranking?

At the moment, with the commitment of Norwood, we have the #5 class with both Scout.com and Rivals.

We'll rack up from here on out, and class will get much better. I don't think we'll be able to pass USC on Rivals, and LSU will be tough, but we should at least get third -- we'll pass both Ohio State and Texas -- and we'll nab second if we can somehow get Randle away from LSU. On Scout.com, Ohio State has the top spot racked up. We'll pass Texas, but won't pass USC. That should leave us fighting for third with LSU, and again the deciding factor will probably be Randle.

Right now, I'd be very surprised if we finish higher than second on either system, and be completely shocked if we finished lower than fourth on either. At the very least, it's a lock for a top-five class.

If you put a gun to my head and made me predict the final finish I would say:

Rivals

1. USC
2. LSU
3. Alabama
4. Ohio State
5. Texas

Scout.com

1. Ohio State
2. USC
3. LSU
4. Alabama
5. Texas
