Bama Game Thread: Bama PostGame Thread - Bama vs. OU...

“No where a championship team”…

“No examples”

For the last time:

12-2, SEC Champions, stop Georgia from the 3 peat, 4 team playoff berth, one play away from playing for his 8th NC.

That’s facts. Not fluff.

Don’t talk about all the close games under Saban the last season and call it “luck”, and then turn around and praise DeBoer for all his close wins.

All of us agree DeBoer failed to meet expectations last season.

This season overall remains to be seen.

But acting like he was handed a situation like Saban inherited from Shula is beyond ridiculous.

1) no one far as i can tell has said he inherited a Shula level team. But it has been clear for some time that the post 2020 teams under Saban have been highly talented but highly flawed teams. Bryce Young covered up alot of those flaws for two years but it was apparent that they were nowhere near peak Saban era teams. And the transfer portal added with nil doesn’t exactly allow DeBoer control over the very best of that last team he had. Let’s face it… he had 0% chance of keeping the one person that would’ve made a difference on last year and this year’s team when Ohio st and Georgia were bidding on him once saban left.

2) close games… in this era they happen far more often than they have ever happened in the past. Too many teams are far more similar in talent than ever before. Vanderbilt is a legitimate threat in terms of talent to upset you on any given Saturday. When have you ever said that outside of the few times that they got a legitimate quarterback that everyone was snoozing on?

3) luck… it’s part of the game, and most of our road wins from 21-present have required a good deal of luck to go our way.

4) saying that the 24 team was a championship caliber team is ignoring that 3 of our 4 best players were DeBoer guys. Milroe for better or worst was the one true Saban guy out of those 4. Ryan Williams had to be re recruited by DeBoer and Shepherd so he technically counts as a DeBoer guy. But Brailsford and Bernard were both guys who came in from Washington. The fact that we won 9 games with the crazy amount of transfers out from that 23 team that you want to hype up is an amazing feat all things considering when you actually look at the experience on that roster added with the acknowledgment that they had to learn a totally different system from what was being ran under Saban.

Sarkisian can’t hold DeBoer’s jock as a HC - IMO, Sarkisian is simply mediocre or a little better. CKD has beaten him both times he’s faced him, likely with less overall talent.

Many are trashing the OL but it is at least decent in pass pro. The RBs and Ty holding the ball too long probably cause more of the issues than the OL. (IMO, overall Ty has been great this year and is still playing well even at his worst. He is the primary reason for Alabama’s success.) DeBoer stated the obvious again post game that Ty has to get rid of the ball quicker. He needs to drop back and let it rip like vs UGA. If there is no one open just throw it away. CKD has mentioned this multiple times this year.

This is true especially when you are facing a top DL like Mizz, USCe or OU.

We have played a murderous row of good defenses and only lost to one of them. Ty had a rough game and he was due for one. It happens it’s just unfortunate that it happened like this.

But people need to keep in mind that the 24 Ohio st team was 10x more talented than any team in the country. Yet they lost 13-10 at home vs a mediocre Michigan team. But what happened? They regrouped after a break, got hot, and didn’t look back. In the NIL and expanded playoff era all you need is to 1) make the playoffs and 2) get hot…. Beat Auburn and let’s see what happens. aTm and Georgia are very beatable

Whatever. You must have totally ignored the post you “quoted”.

If we lose the IB, you guys gonna continue to blame Saban?

And just here to whine? I post quite a bit when I have time here and on the basketball board.

Being upset after a game which we clearly got out coached is not whining.

If we lose the IB then it’s just an indication that this program is still a work in progress but not a complete team yet. I mean people blasted Ryan Day and Harbaugh for years for falling short but they clearly were building to something elite. What Saban did probably won’t ever be replicated so it’s time to temper expectations. But again it doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t leave DeBoer a championship ready team when Downs left and his best DBs and the star receiver all jetted elsewhere too before DeBoer coached one game.

I think the whining that is getting annoying is that everytime Deboer loses a game it borders between “here is Dubose 2.0” to “ I knew we should’ve hired this guy”. I think we are in a far better position coach wise than 95% of the teams that have lost a game this year. I think if you ask their fans to be honest then they would gladly trade their coach for ours… to include Oklahoma. Don’t believe me, look at the OU message boards over the past few years. They are constantly up and down on Venerables.

You guys going to hang onto that if we lose the IB and miss the 12 team playoffs again?

I will be very disappointed because I thought this season could have been a special year if things went right but ultimately I’ll look at it like i looked at 21 and 22 in which you could see major flaws and we somehow managed 9-10 wins despite them.

Living in Nebraska for 6 years taught me the importance of being a patient fan. Maybe ask a Cornhusker about Solich and not heeding Pelini’s warnings about switching conferences…. Being spoiled and entitled doesn’t help you move forward as a program or a fanbase

How about we let them actually play the game first? You’re arguing a future result that may or may not happen to support your point. I’m quick as anyone to blame coaching when warranted (FSU game), and there’s at least one assistant that I think should be polishing his resume. That said, today’s loss was down to the players failing to execute and making critical errors at the worst times. They can’t duplicate those on the voodoo pasture and hope to win.

I’d like to direct some vitriol at Greg Sankey and the SEC propellerheads that dumped this 2010-type schedule on us. They’d give every Bama opponent a bye week before our games if they could. Of course any advantage Bama would’ve gotten from our bye weeks were nullified because both opponents also had bye weeks. Heckuva way to treat your biggest ratings draw, Greg.

I think there should be a stipulation that there are no November bye weeks unless it’s both teams. I just think it puts teams vying for the playoffs in a very disadvantageous situation because the SEC stacks November with huge games
