****Bama vs. CSU Postgame Thread****

So looks like there were no major upsets today. Just some teams being a little lackluster. ESPN sure were hoping for an upset weekend.

give espn a break. there were not any marquee match-ups today. and meechigun almost lost again.

well that is it for me folks I am going to bed and tomorrow I am doing 30 miles on the bike.

AJ McCarron interview recap.

Very short interview. Answered 5-8 questions with "It was a communication issue on the offensive side of the ball". After a few questions, looked at SID, who took him out.

AJ looked frustrated. The tone of his answers makes me believe he is not happy with the attitude/effort of his teammates. Afraid we have some players who care more about their stats and draft status than they do winning games.

Hopefully they have a come to Jesus meeting or this is a 3 loss team at best.

You can always tell the fans who did not live during the Bryant years or the Stallings years. Don't be under the delusion that we were a runaway machine back in those glory days. We survived many a game. In 1994, we trailed eight times entering the fourth quarter and were undefeated until the SECCG.

Last year was a bit of anomaly folks. We're not going to score 50 points every game. So my take:

1) The former OC has faced our defense before, so he had a pretty good idea of what he could run.

2) McCarron's timing still a bit off on some plays.

3) Terrible execution on third downs.

4) O-line regressed again.

5) No injuries - always good

6) That was not our full top of the line team out there. Didn't see Amari, Yeldon missed a quarter, and I think Steen was missing, too.

7) We still won by 25. If we'd lost by 25 then you could be upset.

We had a close game with FIU in 2008 and our 35-0 win over WKU last year didn't feel like a win (plus we lost Fowler and White).

Thank you. Not the most inspiring performance - but we won - and I have a lot of faith we'll get better moving forward. Sorry to the hand wringers, just not that worried.

Like I said, eerily similar to 2010.

There are, however, enough guys around from that 2010 team (at least two in key positions: QB & MLB) to try to steer us straight.

Totally agree with your 2010 assessment, I am getting the same vibe. Almost seems like a sense of entitlement, we get off the bus and expect to win because we stepped foot on the field. CNS preaches it all day long but guys need to listen to it instead of letting it go in one ear and out the other. Eventually they're gonna not give 100% against a team that will turn around and beat them if they are not careful. Big test coming next weekend, Ole Miss is hungry and has a lot of young talent coming to Tuscaloosa next week.

If this team doesn't have a sense of urgency right now, they may find themselves in the fire early against Ole Miss. It's time to get some intensity and passion back soon or we could have another 2010 South Carolina performance around the corner. I'm always happy to win, but at the same time just not seeing what I would like to from this team that doesn't lack in talent.

There was an a somewhat unexpectedly - at least by me - good crowd of CSU fans in town. I tend to forget that CSU has had some good teams and a decent football tradition in their relative station in the FBS stratosphere. Their team played us tough...so I imagine they probably feel pretty good about this 31-6 loss.

Re: ****Bama vs. CSU Game Thread Postgame Thread****

Just got back home from the game. We for sure went to sleep in the 2nd half but won anyways.

I just read through many posts. I, too, agree with the thought of this team being like the 2010 team and thought of it when I watched the game tonight. It was almost painful to see AJ's response after the game. He was not pleased, at all. I remember when Saban said that last year's team was not the most talented he had coached, but they had team chemistry. It seems chemistry is lacking this year. From all reports I heard pre season, this team is loaded with talent. I am not sure what is different, but something seems off. I hope they can correct some problem areas very soon. I do know they had four starters out with injuries in Belue, Norwood, Williams, and Perry, if I am not mistaken. Who knows, next week may be a whole other story...

I was thinking about the stuff Bama has been the news about the last month or so could be affecting the chemistry of late..The talk about Fluker & now all the Coach Saban to Texas may be affecting the moral of the team as a whole..Which is exactly why our rivals tries to keep the distracting Bama news in the news as much as possible..Do y'all think that could be a possibility..Cause something just ain't feeling right with our team right now..

I for one am glad Alabama does not use games like this to inflate their stats. I think the offense was a bit stagnant but I believe it had more to do with the game plan than execution. Bama had this team beat since they scheduled them and went out and worked on things versus just blowing up the scoreboard. I am not saying they intentionally failed to convert all those third downs but I refuse to believe AJ could not find an open receiver beyond the yard marker. I think this was about planning what we are going to do against a LSU team on third and 8 when we will not have time to get down the field, I think it was more about how to get the O line down the field but more importantly practice for the receivers to get on their blocks. I also think a major bonus in all this is CJM provided Bama with an excellent self scout. If anyone knows where to hit the D it is him and I think his game plan against us will go a long way to help the D in the long run.

Just got in from the game a little bit ago. A few personal observations:

1. Several guys hurt and didn't play, including 3 from the defensive backfield. Even so, the young guys played ok.

2. The Jim McElwain offense is a thing of beauty. They are a solid quarterback from being formidable.

3. The CSU nose tackle was a hoss, and he had his way with Kelly on several occasions tonight.

4. Landon Collins was everywhere!

5. Norm Hitzges (sp.) was/is an old prognosticator who used to use the phrase "stale sandwich" to describe games like this one. I choose to believe this was a stale sandwich game for us. I will believe that unless this team gives me a reason to think otherwise.

6. A lot of young guys got some good PT tonight. And they are quite talented. The future remains bright.

7. I haven't been to a game since Miss. St. in 2008. The stadium looks great all full of crimson.

8. I am not patient enough to go to Elephant Stomp one hour before kickoff. At one hour prior to kickoff, I must be in the stadium already.

Thank you and good night.

Once again Bama played just good enough to win and not show their hand to the rest of the teams on the schedule. They were flat but still won by more than three touchdowns with the oponent failing to score a touchdown. I have to think the intensity level will be back next week against the Rebel Black Bears. The lack of third down conversions was the only glaring stat from last night that seriously has me worried going forward. If we go three and out against Ole Miss or LSU, it can get very ugly very quickly.

I think the troubling thing about this season is the little mistakes that we have not made in years. Watching Yeldon and AJ have differing expectations on where the handoff is gonna be is surprising. We've seen that a fair amount this year - one guy isn't where he's supposed to be and the play fails. The penalties were way down last night, which is good, and special teams continue to be strong, but we seem to be stopping ourselves at an unusually high rate. I'm not sure yet what we have with this team.

Maybe it's me or it's just a lot of overreaction, not trashing anyone's opinion at all! Just saying, I think we'll be fine next week, we just need to play a full 60 minute game on offense, which we have yet to play. Also, if there is a season that reminds me of the current it's 2008. Then again, that was then, this is NOW. Next week we'll be a whole different animal.

Good post. The optimistic side of me agrees with the first half of this post. The pessimistic side of me says there is a huge problem with this team's attitude. It seems to me the comparatively weak schedule may give them the feeling that a 3-peat is theirs by inheritance and they have to do little to almost nothing to earn it.
If true, that kind of attitude deserves nothing but a rude awakening. I'm also afraid that if it's not corrected real soon, that rude awakening may be right around the corner.

Steen still out, TJ had to sit a Qtr. so that's 6 really good players on the bench. Norwood has been Mr 3rd Down.

Im not scared yet but Saturday Night will be a good test fot this team.
