Bama vs Oklahoma round 2 (Friday December 19th)

I've finally realized it's insanity to go against your prognostications ... so I, too, have Miami in the Semis.
But if you want my official pick on ESPN it’s this.

Keep in mind I’m basing this off the idea that Alabama beats Oklahoma with zero key injuries. It’s a tall task but I like our chances.

Here it is (non bama first)

Fiesta bowl bracket (aka murders row)

First round

#6 Ole Miss over #11 Tulane: I think it will be tougher than it should be but I just think talent wins the day. Wouldn’t be totally shocked if Tulane upsets them.

#10 Miami over #7 aTm: I just don’t buy aTm. I think they benefited greatly off a weak schedule. I think Miami is a matchup nightmare for them from a physical, talent, and mental standpoint. I think Miami brings the boom and finishes what Texas started

Quarters:

Sugar: #3 Georgia over #6 Ole Miss: I think without kiffin there is no shot. Even with him I think it would be a tall ask. Georgia has an advantage of pretty much knowing their opponent and I think that defense has alot to atone for from their first matchup.

Cotton: #10 Miami over #2 Ohio State. I just don’t buy Ohio State just yet and I think Miami will be the best team they would have played all season. I think Miami has alot to prove and I see this moment being too big for Sayin.

Semis:

Fiesta: #3 Georgia over #10 Miami. I think this will be the game of the playoffs if it happens. Beck vs Georgia and a highly talented Georgia vs a highly talented Miami. I just trust Georgia more

Peach bracket

#9 Alabama over #8 Oklahoma: it’s going to be tough environment but i feel Alabama knows and wants to prove it’s the better team. The regular season game felt like the 2015 ole miss and 11-5-11 lsu games in which everyone with eyes knew the better team lost. Going to a cold, possibly snow covered field, and hearing the worst fight song ever produced incessantly will be tough. But I think Ty gets right and rights the wrongs of the previous game.

#5 Oregon over #12 JMU: easiest pick ever… next

Quarters

Rose

#9 Bama over #1 Indiana: i just think the stage is too big for Indy and bama would have regained their confidence. Plus they are going to hear nothing but how Indy is an unbeatable team for a month so they will be ready to take it to them.

Orange

#5 Oregon over #4 Texas Tech: extremely tough pick. Mostly because my viewing of tech is limited. But i just have more trust in lanning so that’s where im going

Semis

Peach

#9 Alabama over #5 Oregon: this is a matchup we have been asking for a decade but never got. Lanning vs DeBoer round 4. Bama would have an overwhelming home field advantage. Tough game but I believe Bama is better

National championship: bama vs UGA part iii… not gonna pick just yet because anything is without knowing injuries or key data points. But I don’t foresee a blowout either way.

Again I’m basing this overall potential and paths. Bama and Miami have tough game ones. But should either prevail in their first round matchups then they are all of the sudden the most dangerous teams in their brackets. I just don’t believe the B1G teams are as battle tested nor as good as many think.

I'm a little more confident in our rematch with Oklahoma than I first thought Saturday. IF we can get the same production as last time and not turn the ball over, then we'll be okay.

Hoping and praying we can get relatively healthy by then. We are going to need it if we make a run.

This outcome would be absolutely glorious. The more things change the more they stay the same. :ROFLMAO:

The whole 12 team playoff was supposed to prevent this from happening but here we are again.

While we're at it, how about toss sweeps to the RBS that seemed to get 6 to 7 yards every time we used it. Hill at 240 lbs downhill is what we need to apply murderball. Where was Ty with QB design runs in the SECCG ?? They worked well against a stout barn defense. Grubb completely abandoned those plays when we need 2 or 3 yards for a first!!!
I'm so over the fraud.
No, no, no! Our running game HAS to be limited to these LOOOOOONG developing things in which Ty takes the ball from under center and drops straight back for seemingly 20-30 yards to hand the ball to a patiently waiting RB waiting there to take the hand off and then looking for a non-existent seam to open that the O line is totally incapable of creating. Then, left to his own devices, he has to try to bounce outside or otherwise come up with some other improvisation to avoid getting blown up 5-10 yards behind the line of scrimmage.

FYI, texas tech has had one close game all year, Arizona State.Tech was without their starting QB in that game. The rest of their games were 20+ wins.

They need to be forced to get in a conference. They want and have been given special treatment for decades.
They need to be forced to get in a conference. They want and have been given special treatment for decad
Starting next year, Notre Dame is guaranteed a playoff berth if they finish in the top 12, they won’t be joining a conference anytime soon.

We significantly outplayed them a few weeks ago if not for the turnovers. Duplicate that game and protect the ball and we win by 10-13
But keep in mind their best defender, R Mason Thomas, should be back for this game. He did not play against us the first time and he can be an absolute game wrecker. Their defense should be even better.

Texas Tech is good. They've paid some money for that roster. But they don't have a game changing QB. Really no one does, with the closest being Mendoza and Sayin.

Neither Indiana nor Ohio State have been through a grind though.

Texas Tech has had no grind.

Ole Miss and Oregon haven't had much of a grind.

Georgia, Oklahoma and Bama have had to grind all year.

This would definitely be the most entertaining way for it to play out for us lol.

Idk if I trust Beck enough to take Miami that far. He'll have a brain fart game where he throws 3 picks or something and it could be the A&M game but if not I think it'll be vs Ohio State.

Could definitely see UGA making the title game though and reminding people that Kirby is an elite coach. That said, Stockton just isn't that good so idk.

Also I think you might be underrating Indiana. Maybe I'm wrong but they seem to be the best coached team with arguably the best QB in the playoffs. Even though they have an overall talent disadvantage from a recruiting ranking standpoint.

Just wonderin’, have we suddenly discovered an as yet untapped source of O linemen? Agree that it’s a better draw than A&M would have been. Can’t shake the images of our play on O since the end of October, though. Also can’t shake the feeling that OU is becoming to us what we were to UGA. Well…..until yesterday.
We had over 400 yards of offense vs OU. You are acting as if OU completely shut us down. We had a missed 30 something yard FG and a special teams turnover that led to points for them. I know those are part of the game, but OU isn't exactly the 2011 Alabama defense.

OU's secondary is particularly vulnerable. Ty should have had 400 yards passing against them if not for drops. As it was, he had 326.

The concern I have is that we are what we are at this point. We score in the 20s. We can't convert 3rd and 2. We usually aren't turnover prone, but against Oklahoma and Georgia we were. Are we going to get that much healthier between now and the 19th and more importantly, where are we mentally? We made great strides in road games this year compared to DeBoer's first year. But now comes the toughest road test of all.

Yes, December in Norman as we are currently constituted is going to be tougher than Athens in September.

Love that breakdown! I just don't have any confidence at all in our group. I think we lose 3 straight to OU.
