***Bama vs. Ole Miss - Postgame Thread***

I wish I had some explanation for our weekly 'get burned deep' defensive hiccup. I think we'll get that corrected at some point.

Kicking game? U-G-L-Y. We're giving up some field position on kick-offs that good teams would looooove to have against us.

Yeah, it hasn't hurt us yet; but we just cannot continue to spot the opposing team a score. At some point, it could haunt us.

Same thing with field position on kick-offs. If we constantly allow LSU or Oklahoma/Wisconsin - or, heck, even Auburn to start at their own 40 or 45 yardline it's going to bite us in the rear.

Fortunately, those things can be fixed.

Looks like Foster doesnt get enough air under his kicks when he kicks it deep which allows the runners to get mucho yards and when he does kick it high, its a short kickoff. Bama did have one lane break down that I saw, that is fixable.

We're just going to have to get used to this.
The only two ways to pass-attack this D is over-the-top and soft zones underneath.
Problem is,,,,, THERE AIN'T NO SOFT ZONE UNDERNEATH! They can't run drags across the field for fear of running out of WRs by the third quarter.
SOOOOOOOO, I look for more deep deep balls and some to be completed every now and then.:rolleye2:

Deep balls, I don't mind.

Completed deep balls, I don't mind.

Completed deep balls to a wide open receiver because our guys are still standing at the line of scrimmage trying to figure out who's supposed to be covering the guy catching the completed deep ball, I no likey.

:)

It's only 7 games in, but surely this was what it was like to watch Coach Bryant's best teams.

But the sense of assurance - that we will answer, and then some - is very similar...

Another aspect of similarity is a feeling of anticipation for huge games rather than trepidation.

For example, I understand it's possible we lose to LSU, but my sense is that we'll win big. 17 points big. It sure is great to have that arrogant swagger back.
