Question: Barn Shenanigans

I have known many barn fans over the years that were barn fans simply because they were the "contrary" family member. They weren't going to be Bama fans because big brother was a Bama fan.
I really believe that this explains their "little brother" syndrome. Some shrink should do a study on this.

not every 10 win season was followed by a losing season. In 1989 we went 10-2 and followed that with a 7-5 and a victory over the barn. In 1986 we finished 10-3 and followed that up with a 7-5...so your friend seems to recall only partial history. Plus as stated we won 12, not 10....

I've often noticed that when Auburn fans boast, they always have to put limits on it. "6 of the last 7, X of the last Y", that sort of thing.

It has been so quiet around my workplace since the 36-0 whuppin...the 3 barnies have all crawled into their office space and shut their mouths...quiet as little mice...I love it...

That's what I meant when I started the thread. There is always the blowhards you hear on Finebaum like I-man and Charles from Reeltown who think this is "gonna be 1993 all over again," but for the most part the obnoxiousness has been substantially reduced. I haven't heard one peep from my barner brother in law or any of the other aubies running around the office.

Well, he was right in 3 cases, but he was wrong about the other TWENTY SIX times we have won 10 or more games in a season. :p_green:

The only thing is that the three cases when it's happened have been the last three cases. Surely that will change this year. But then again who really thought that AU or defending E div champ UT would've fallen on their faces in '08?

Anyway, UA will do better than 6-7 this year, can't wait for the season to start.

The last I heard from one of my barner friends was some smack about the utah game immediately following it. I just replied. "36-0 and 5-19". He replied touche. Smart guy for a barner. ;)

Oh come on, knowing one French word doesn't make him bilingual. ;)

And we live in the past... I guess according to them, the past officially begins in 2001. Oh but never mind the fact that we owned them 8 out of 12 times prior to our downfall (considering they blame our success of 2008 was courtesy of their downfall).

The number 39 is all I need.

Most auburn fans put so much into beating Alabama that they can't see past the Iron Bowl.

They've had a rude awakening since Nick Saban came to Tuscaloosa. Whether they admit it or not, the writing is on the wall.:biggrin2::BigA:
