My wife and I were at the game on Saturday, and we thought that the playing field looked extremely dry. The grass did not seem to be as plush as it was in past years. Anyone notice the same thing? RTR

We watched it on the tube.

My buddy and I couldn't believe the amount of sand we saw getting kicked up during the game.

What's the deal?

for whatever reasons, the universe has laws in place which does not allow our turf to thrive.

I'm not asking for it to 'thrive', I'm just asking for it to not appear that BDS is in Arizona...

It's an embarrassment.

there's always been a lot of sand kicked up from our turf for the past couple of years...

Our field is crap, and always has been. It does not matter how many times they dig it up and re-plant it, it will always look bad. I dont know if it's because of the soil or if it's because those who are put in charge of it don't know what they're doing. Considering how things are handled in the athletic department, I lean toward the second option.

Anyway, I vote they dig it up for good and put down the new artificial surface. At least then it will look nice.

The field did look to have a lot of sand on it and dried out. I hate seeing our field in poor condition but prefer that much more than the new field turf. I don't care what anyone says you will still see more injurys that would have been avoided on grass not to mention the players cook on that stuff in the hot afternoons. I remeber a sideline report when we were at olemiss a few years ago the heat index on the field was 95 when it was only 80ish outside.

I'm not in favor of artificial surfaces either, but it's pathetic that a program like ours has such a horrible field. I imagine it's due to our ground crew - the head of that crew must be clueless as I can't remember the last time BDS had a healthy, lush field to play on...

Sad.
