Definitely need to go to Rama Jama if you're visiting. A lot of football lore on the walls there. The touchdown burger is fantastic but be sure to ask them to add a cheese and bacon to perfect it (just my opinion).

If it is nice outside, maybe go by Archibalds near MLK Blvd in Northport. You can enjoy some of the best ribs on their benches.

Dinner I'd suggest either Five or Chuck's Fish in downtown Tuscaloosa.

Here is a list from bygone days. Anybody remember eating lunch at Druid Drugs, Grant’s Market or the QuikSnack? How about Horne’s? I guess I’m showing my age. :)

I used to see Coach Bryant in a booth at Druid Drugs from time to time.

Also, there will be many opinions on "most authentic" so get ready :) Perfect day for me if I were going to be there would probably be The Waysider for breakfast, City Cafe (meat & 3) for lunch, and Dreamland for dinner. I might need hospitilization afterward, but it would be a good day of eating :D
I am pretty sure I put on the freshman 15 after discovering City Cafe in the 80's.

Thanks for all the responses. I will be there around supper time Friday and Archibald is where I believe I will go after reading the comments. Rama Jama’s would be awesome but we can’t make it there by that time. I will be stopping by to see Bryant Denny as well.

Note that they normally have tours of BDS that you can buy tickets for, however, it is currently under renovation so I assume those are on hold.

As to food, I agree with the ones listed. My favorites:
Rama Jama
City Cafe
Archibald's
Nick's in the Sticks

We like DePalma’s. Chucks Fish House is pretty good.

Taco Casa - is that the place that says “queso on anything you say so”?
I don't recall hearing that about Taco Casa, and I can eat my weight in their burritos.

Tried going to DePalma's twice. Rudest service we've had in Tuscaloosa, and that's saying something.

Server or owner? The owner is a super nice guy we’ve known for years. Even saw my family eating at another restaurant and paid for our bill. I could not believe that he’d have been rude. I’d think he’d fire an employee on the spot if he witnessed what you described. Hate that you didn’t have a good experience.

Enjoy your time here. And congrats on your team and their great run. Hopefully we’ll get to meet up again... soon 🐘

Both. Or, server and manager. And one time we tried to stop in for a dessert and the hostess refused to speak to my wife. There are plenty of places in Tuscaloosa and Northport that act like they appreciate our business, so we go to those restaurants instead.

I'll never go back.

I really like R Davidson's and Chuck's for dinner. Both have a decent atmosphere, very good food and are moderately priced.

If you go to R. Davidson's, get there early. They shut down the kitchen an hour and a half before closing February 13th last year. We had to go to 301 Bistro, which wasn't too bad.
