Remember Fall afternoons, listening to John Forney calling the games. “ Pat Trammel to Bill Battle!” That was when college football was……..college football.

Did CBB have health issues leading to his passing?

A few years ago, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, though it later went into full remission.

I don’t know if whether it returned or the cause of death was unrelated.

He was a great bridge from Mal Moore to Greg Byrne, and a class act all around. We’ll miss him.

Bill Battle was an Alabama legend, not only as a player, but as Athletic Director. He gave of himself tirelessly as an alum to the preservation and advancement of the University of Alabama. May your eternal soul rest in peace Coach Battle.
