Bird Flu: Will This Be The Next Pandemic?

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

Oh, sorry - me too now. Didn't realize there was a paywall (I'm not a subscriber).

Basically, she politicized the vaccine development for the benefit of the election rather than fully supporting its development: https://www.yahoo.com/news/kamala-h...d-vaccine-just-on-trumps-sayso-020511962.html

There were a lot of people reticent about getting the vaccine when it was introduced, in part due to the political rhetoric spewed during the campaign.

While I'm sure that there was a political motive involved in her statements, it's not like there weren't valid reasons for questioning Trump's commitment to science. After all, the guy has shown that he will say or do just about anything to get his way.

The Trump administration pressured the Food and Drug Administration, including former FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn, to authorize unproven treatments for Covid-19 and the first Covid-19 vaccines on an accelerated timeline, according to a report released Wednesday by Democrats on the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis.

Senior Trump administration officials fought for the reauthorization of hydroxychloroquine, a drug normally used to treat malaria and lupus, after the FDA revoked its emergency clearance of the drug because data showed it was ineffective against Covid-19 and could lead to potentially dangerous side effects, the report found. The Democrats’ investigation also documents potential influence from former White House officials regarding the FDA’s decision to authorize convalescent plasma, and White House attempts to block the FDA from collecting additional safety data on Covid-19 vaccines in order to get them to the public before the 2020 presidential election.

“If the public health professionals, if Dr. [Anthony] Fauci, if the doctors tell us that we should take it, I’ll be the first in line to take it. Absolutely,” Harris said during the live debate in Salt Lake City, when she was asked if Americans should take a vaccine, if the Trump administration were to approve one either before or after the election. “But if Donald Trump tells us that we should take it. I’m not taking it.”
I cant say that I disagree with her total statement, especially because of trump's strong penchant for saying whatever benefits himself at any moment, regardless of the truth. 🤷‍♂️

I get it - but we should at least be honest wrt the standards we hold people to. I'm no trump fan, but everything he is promoted in its worst form, and so should this. If anyone didn't take the vaccine because she said this, she should be held liable for their outcome. That's the point. As someone running for the VP position, her words carry weight with people (they shouldn't but they do) so denying that this was a stupid thing to say as it was based purely on politics is playing favorites.

I believe she was fully supportive of the vax once it was given emergency approval. On the other hand, trump was wishy washy about it, seeming to go both ways at times, while recommending alternative treatments such as invermectin, bleach lights etc. Even today, many on the right absolutely hate Dr Fauci.
