:BigA:I remember reading a few years ago about a ground breaking on a dome expansion at the BJCC. Are they actually building a dome? Is it a football stadium, or just an expansion of the convention center. Would UAB and the bowl game play there? There is a big crane at the BJCC, but I haven't heard anything about dome in awhile. Birmingham can't afford to pay it's employees. Birmingham can't afford water.
Birmingham's sewer problem has helped to force them into bankruptcy...
Birmingham's big ideas started with Larry Langford... ( A man of 'convictions... yep he's in jail.)
A dome in Bham is a long shot. The reality is that Birmingham's glory days are kinda behind them.
Not to knock 'The Magic City', but like the 'Ole Gray Mare'... ♪♫♪ She ain't what she used to be.

They are building a hotel down there, that is why the crane is there. The hotel is right next to the SEC headquarters, to give you an idea where it is, if you are familiar with the area.

The dome ground breaking was a publicity stunt done by Larry Langford. He had no legit plan in place, yet he thought the ground breaking ceremony would be a good way to make it seem there was actual progress happening.

The only stadium the city of Birmingham is building is the new one for the Barons, which will be by the very nice Railroad Park.

Birmingham can't even run day-to-day affairs. Why give them more money and responsibility? Besides that, what are they going to do with it once it is built? Its a terrible idea. Besides that, they want the people of of Alabama to foot the bill and I call BS on that. If they want it, let THEM pay for it.
