Composed? Throwing the ball wildly because the big bad VT boys were coming for you (until your offensive line started holding like all hell and getting away with it, so you could have enough time to throw)? That's composed?!!
Can u imagine Marcel vs bs oline? Bama's dline would eat these guys for breakfast.

Last I heard, they didn't require a home-and-home and still could find no takers. They tried upgrading conferences by moving to the MWC, but with Utah and BYU defecting, that blew up in their face.

I heard Musberger say most of BoiseSt players were from Cali~maybe they should solicit the PAC-whatever to get in. If they get in a better conference & upgrade their schedule, then yeah, they'd deserve they hype. But its not warranted right now.
They won't the first team to get left out by playing a lowly schedule, so they might as well suck it up. The barn played a tougher one in 04 & still got left out, as has Utah a couple of times.

Disagree. Tyrod is the only reason VT was even in the game
Exactly. He was the best player on the field for either team.
thats what they used to say about Reggie Ball too...

The QB is supposed to distribute the ball to his playmakers. Tyod might have had a lot of yards, but that is because he hangs onto the ball all game long.

Not to defend Boise too much, but who have they refused to play?

Nebraska. I read somewhere, don't know how true it is, but Osbourne offered to play Boise State in Boise but only in a 2 for 1 series. 2 games at Lincoln, 1 in Boise. I read it on another site, and I don't know if it's true, but if it is then it's on Boise State. Nobody is going to play BSU in a straight home and home. They, BSU, are going to have to sacrifice a lil' bit if they want said respect. And alledgely turning down Nebraska isn't going to help their cause.

I don't disagree, but they have been trying to upgrade their schedule. Everything from offering to play anybody, anywhere as well as switching to a better conference, even though the MWC shed two of their best teams after the fact. Their schedule this year is really bad and they should not play in the BCS NC game because of it. But they are trying. I have to respect that. There's no SEC for them to join and I doubt the PAC 10/12 will ever let them in.

He may be athletic but he shouldnt be in the qb position.

Who else do they got at QB? I'm just saying.
He was much better tonight than he was a year ago, I don't think there's any question about that.

Personally I don't think T. Mobile is the reason they lost. Bud Foster's over-rated defense is what cost them the game.
I think there were a lot of problems besides TT that cost them a win in that one. Defense, O line, ridiculous penalties, but I believe solid plays in a couple situations from Taylor would've gone a long way, like a good throw on the flea flicker for instance.

But, we wouldn't even be talking about what went wrong for VT if it weren't for that idiotic shotgun QB draw on 2nd down on VT's last drive. BSU knew the ball wasn't going in the air so shotgun just gave them more time to react, if VT would've just handed it off and picked up 3 or 4 they would've had an extremely manageable 3rd down and 1 or 2 and a timeout-less BSU would not be able to stop the victory formation.

Boise did what they had to do tonight went into a hostile place and won. They are a solid well coached team who can probally play with anyone in the country. :BigA:
Going off one week's performance, I'd give Boise 14 points against Bama and still bet on Bama. I'd do the same for Ohio State. Boise got a lot of points off of VT mental breakdowns and unforced errors. Those VT DB's looked totally lost the entire night when it came to what coverage they were running on any given play. Two of the TD passes went to wide open WRs b/c the VT defender (#43 on the last one and #15 on the first TD) blew their respective assignments, not b/c the Boise Wr beat the defender.
I'd say Boise deserves a title shot if they thumped VT (even though the VT OL was bad) b/c VT is a quality program, but barely scraping by and getting a net gain of over 40 yards from penalties on the go-ahead drive hardly makes them worthy of NC game consideration (the block in the back would've gone from the spot of the foul and put them on about the 15, not the 40 where they started).

Boise State proved they are a contender and that's it. I think most of us would give them that much credit to begin with. The problem is it's also pretty much the end of the discussion. Oregon State at home is the only thing resembling a test that they have left. That means the only thing stopping them from is the Pac-10's third best team on smurf turf. That's absurd...

Clearly the things I feared came to fruition. BS was well prepared and entirely focused on the game. VT played like they were still shaking off rust. This is obviously easier when you have BS's schedule. They've probably been focusing on this game entirely since their bowl game. Having said that, the only quarter BS was clearly a better team is the first quarter. Once they lost the element of surprise they really seemed like the lesser of the two teams.

My main gripe was the last three calls (or non-calls) the refs made. In isolation I could get picking up the blocking in the back flag, or even the late hit (although clearly he was trying to make a legit tackle as the BS player was tiptoeing the sideline), or the non-call on pass interference. But all three going in favor of Boise State at the end of the game? That's not how you want it to go down, you don't want to feel like you got hosed and I can see why VT fans might make that argument.

Here's what I saw, watching only one quarter...
VT was nervous and not ready to play. They literally gave BS the 3 point win differential with the first series fumble (it blows my mind that center/qb snap fumbles even still happen, especially with guys who played together the year before. Obviously a case of nerves)
A couple of stupid penalties gave BS 7 more. It looked obvious to me from quarter one BS was ready to play and VT wasn't.
They beat a team ranked 6th in the country by 3 points on a neutral field, and, frankly, I don't think VT deserved a top ten ranking going in. Maybe 12 - 15.
BS still, even based on this game, does not belong; but, if we run the table, you saw last night, maybe for the only time this year on TV, our BCSCG opponent.
I just threw up a little in my mouth...

i've got to give props to bs, they won a big game. didn't look very good in the 2nd half, but did what it took (with the aid of some interesting calls ;) ) to win.

last night made it clear that they would not be able to do that week in and week out.

virginia tech looks like auburn with talented athletes. absolutely no team identity, poor play calling, poor special teams and poor fundamentals.

I also have to agree that BSU acted like a championship team in that in a tough situation, they dug down and found a way to win. When they got rolling, VT had no answer for them.

Ok after sleeping on it. I will give Boise their props. They could probably play with any team in the country on a given Saturday. They are well coached and play with a lot of heart. Do I think they could beat us? We would blow them out but we are the best team in the nation. It would be interesting to see them play Ohio State. By the way I think we would blow Ohio State out also. We are Alabama after all.
