Question: Border crisis looming, what should be done?

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Tether Greg Abbott on a floating platform in the middle of the Rio Grande. Anyone who can swim to the platform and give him a noogie is granted citizenship.
Maybe we should let the homeless from cold northern cities get on chartered busses and send them to warmer climes like Texas and Fla.

Oklahoma GOP votes to censure Lankford over Senate border talks

The Oklahoma Republican Party approved a resolution Saturday condemning and censuring Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) for his role as a chief negotiator in the Senate border security talks between Democrats and Republicans.

The resolution — a copy of which was posted on X, formerly Twitter — by state Sen. Dusty Deevers (R) said, “Senator Lankford playing fast and loose with Democrats on our border policy not only disfranchises legal immigrants seeking citizenship but it also puts the safety and security of Americans in great danger.”

The millions keep coming from all over the world because they know Congress won’t pass any meaningful reform.

It's worth clicking on the link to watch the Fox interview with Lankford.

The only issue is whether or not there will be enough GOP Congressmen to buck Trump.

“It is interesting, Republicans, four months ago, would not give funding for Ukraine, for Israel and for our southern border because we demanded changes in policy. So we actually locked arms together and said, ‘We’re not going to give money for this. We want a change in law,'” he said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“And now, it’s interesting, a few months later, when we’re finally getting to the end, they’re like, ‘Oh, just kidding, I actually don’t want a change in law because of presidential election year,'” he added.

And Trump says you don’t need Congress, Biden could just do what he did.
I don’t recall all he did, but something I think was related to Covid - so we need another pandemic? I thought he also did something that the courts overruled, IIRC. But Biden said he’d lockdown the border (I guess for a period of time), if they can get the current bill (I’d assume in almost any configuration, at this point)to his desk.
The fact the Trumpers are either too stupid to understand what’s happening (more than a few) or are so evil they want more chaos (more than a few) is a leading indicator of why we are where we are.

What Trump did was found illegal by the courts. Biden would be enjoined, if he tried the same. It's all politics...

I know the text of the Senate bill hasn’t been released yet, but the reports/leaks are saying the border can be shut down at 4,000 encounters a day and must be shut down at 5,000. Why do we have to get those numbers? Funnel everyone through ports of entry for asylum claims permanently. If they come in another way no dice. Add the judges and CBP officers to process them and no catch and release. Adding some arbitrary number triggers to the law is stupid.

Isn't there a rule/law that a person cant travel through numerous other countries to eventually present themselves at the US and claim asylum? 🤷‍♂️

Can be? We already have that ability, we simply choose not to use it. If what I'm seeing is correct, this bill only codifies what's already happening down there.

Shocking video captured the moment a migrant mob pounded a pair of cops near Times Square over the weekend — but the busted cowardly suspects were still released back onto the street without bail, sources say.

No bail, eh? I wonder if that's why....

One of the men, Reveron, has two open cases in Manhattan for assault and robbery.

In November, he allegedly “pushed, punched and bit” a Nordstrom Rack employee who caught him lifting a $130 item from the Union Square store’s display rack, according to law enforcement sources.

Yeah, this is gonna end well.

That's called "third country bar." It was concocted by the Trump administration in 2019. It was struck down by a federal court in 2020 and the Biden administration has re-enacted in a slightly different form. It's not been judicially-tested, AFAIK..

Chicago 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale Says Illegal Immigrants Are Getting $9,000 Housing Vouchers, Food, Free Childcare & More

“Now, I've said this before. If you give me 3 meals, housing, childcare, education, a voucher for $9,000 You know what? I come to Chicago too. And that's what they're doing. They're telling people and they're sending money back to Chicago I mean, back to Venezuela to come to Chicago because they're saying, hey, the good times are rolling there.

They're taking care of everybody. Now, when we have, When we have Venezuelans that are driving cars, where did they get a driver's license? -Right. -Where did they get insurance from? And then you have Venezuelans being caught with drugs and guns.”

What a train wreck. We have homeless people including children and veterans all over our country and we don't give them this help. I would be all for doing this for veterans that are homeless and often times struggle with mental health issues that we aren't helping them with, but we do this instead. Our leaders deserve to be thrown out on their ears. A pox on all their houses for this.

If this is accurate, its ridiculous!

Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, has become a staging ground for state forces, the epicenter of a standoff with the federal government and a stark symbol of dysfunction at the border.

But there’s another story about this park that’s far less well known than the recent legal battle over immigration enforcement in this border city.

The 47-acre park along the Rio Grande was named after a Confederate military leader who fled to Mexico in 1865 rather than surrendering to Union troops.

A Federal Emergency Management Agency case study describing the park notes that it was named for General Joseph Orville Shelby, known to some as the “undefeated rebel.”

_________

This is not a coincidence.
