With CRC on board...

I feel better about S&C than I have in a long time, now. Brodie, and perhaps some others, did not receive the pressure they should have to become stronger. There are several reasons for this, but they seem to have largely evaporated. Back to Brodie, he wasn't a weight room warrior, by any means, and he'll have to better in the pros, or he won't stay there long. He's talented, but not talented enough that the S&C can be ignored. However, I tend to agree that the injuries he's had so far, he would probably have had anyway. But, OTOH, both knees are repaired and less subject to injury now, since, as a part of the ACL repair, the femoral arch is relieved, so as to make future injuries to the graft less likely. The shoulder was a freak thing, but, again caused by doing too much - and he seems to have learned that lesson. That leaves the "hard gainer" problem. He'll probably never weigh twenty pounds more. He's tried eating his way up, without success. He just has a fast metabolism. That said, there are a lot of successful QBs in the pros who aren't imposing physical specimens. I'd say that his success depends entirely on whether he can learn to scan the field and go through his progressions. Now that is a characteristic all successful NFL QBs have...

I don't like the Chiefs because they ripped off Ramma Jamma from us. (yes I know that Ramma Jamma is a semi take off of Hottie Tottie) But really their cheer uses the same friggin words.

The history...

of that yell is interesting. It went from "Hoighty-Toighty"* in the late 1800s to "Hidey-Tidey" and then to today's "Hottie-Tottie." There's not one OM grad in a thousand who knows that...

You did not in any way say that anything about the kansas city chefs was kewler than the friggen TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS!

Seriously, cooler helmets?

You're kidding, right?

Right?

Crack head...
The only good thing I can say about Tampa Bay's helmets is that they're not as gay as their old ones. Get it?

The Buc's helmet is the coolest and the envy of the league. Sounds like someone is jealous!

Jealous of what? As far as the NFL goes, I can pretty well take it or leave it. I pull for teams that have BAMA players. I started doing that with Starr and the Packers, (Loved Lombardi too) contined with Namath, Lee Roy, Todd, etc, etc and will pull for KC because of Brodie. I have no serious interest in any of them except for the chance to see BAMA players perform. Jealous? Not hardly.

Hmm, I had you pegged as a Dolphin fan. :conf3: Seriously, I thought you were a Chiefs fan (by your post) and hence, would be jealous of Tampa's 2002 Super Bowl Championship. As for the "gay" comment, I wouldn't say that to Booger's or Derrick's face. :eek2:

i don't follow. i don't think what's holding him back can be fixed with hard work. a major injury in high school. a serious and a major injury in college. if he could just work hard and put on 20 lbs, i think he would've done it by now. if not, we have some serious strength and conditioning issues on our team. not to mention the fact that the sort of injuries he's had/is prone to might not be helped by putting on weight.
My thoughts regarding Brodie center around his weight, not his injuries -- Although the two are arguably connected. Brodie arrived in T-Town at 175 lbs, so he has put on some weight to get to 205. However, if he wants to start and survive in the NFL, he needs to get to 225 lbs minimum.

My point was that up until this point in his career, Brodie's lack of size hasn't kept him out of the lineup. Unless of course, you count time lost to injury, which could be directly attibuted to not being bigger and stronger.

In the NFL, a bigger, stronger guy will start over a skinnier, less athletic guy. As such, for the first time in his career, Brodie may be forced to hit the weight room in order to get on the field. The NFL is a business and teams simply won't invest valuable practice snaps on a guy who is physically incapable of surviving a season.

Brodie will have to get bigger to start and this is a new situation for him. My thought was that this might be just what he needed to reach his potential. RTR.

While many in the south barely notice the NFL I've been a huge fan since I was a kid, I've watched way too much of it, but in that time I noticed the following

NO QB is effective under pressure: Even the great Joe Montana lost, and looked bad doing it when somebody was knocking him in the teeth, current example, Vick, he may run around and look cool when pressured, but he doesn't win the game, so brody's ability to take a hit isn't really a big deal. If the chiefs aren't protecting the QB they are going to lose no matter who is under center.

Not necessarily.

Trent Green, the Chiefs starting quarterback since 2001, is 6'3" 217lbs and hasn't missed a game since he joined the team. That's 80 consecutive starts which says alot considering he's been playing well into his 30's and isn't exactly a threat with his legs. Therefore, Croyle could survive with another 10lbs of muscle which would bring him to or near Green's current weight. That's not to say Croyle shouldn't try for 225lbs but realistically that isn't the minimum he'd need to survive the rigors of professional football.

BTW,

I'm a Longtime Chiefs fan (19 years) and was excited when Croyle was announced as the Chiefs 3rd round selection. He reminds me so much of Green only with a much a stronger arm and slightly better mobility as an open field runner. I like the intangible qualities Brodie brings to the table and I think they'll certainly help him in the NFL. One thing is for sure... Croyle has great mentor in Trent Green which will only speed his development.

Also, I write for a Chiefs fansite called Wild Bill's Chiefs Page. Just before the draft started, I posted an article on why the Chiefs need to draft more SEC players as well as which ones they should look at in the '06 class.

If anyone is interested in reading it, just click the following link:

KC Needs More SEC

Please excuse the typos. The article was rushed so that it'd go live before the draft started. Hope you guys enjoy it.
