What are the odds we get this guy? I herd USC was his front runner, and with the RB's we have right now and the addition of Mike Ford next year do yall think we get this guy..........

Spiller has favored USC recently but he seems to really like Florida after his recent swamp excursion to see the FSU/UF game. I would guess it will come down to one of those two teams. He is still listing Bama as a favorite even though he may not take an official visit to Tuscaloosa.

How many spots does fla have open for recruiting?
Its funny because we made suitcases out of the gayturds and
they have one decent win with that generic spread option
over a horrible fsu team and people start coming out of the woodworks.
It just seems since this weekend everybody
and their brother has them listed
as a favorite or along with us or whomever.
I'd like to know what the fl coaches are telling
the recruits because RTO said that they
are recruiting 6 receivers along with other positions.
If my memory serves me correct WE are the ones
with low numbers so someone that they are lying to
down in the swamp gutter there is gonna get left out of the feeding trough.

Florida did nothing more than what we did against them in September. Bunch of top flight recruits in for a visit, a packed house with rabid fans, and a big blow-out win that impressed them (even if if was over a struggling rival). If you will remember how things went for us after the Florida weekend, you will see very close similarities. The only difference... and it's a big difference... is that Florida did this is their last regular-season game (stays on the mind of recruits for a longer period of time).

C.J. Spiller Update

C.J. Spiller Update
Rated by Scout.com as the third-best running back in the country. Spiller has the Crimson Tide in his final five, and one Alabama coach visited the blue-chip back.

Spiller has taken one official visit, and he plans to take all five visits before making a decision.

"I don't have a leader at all," he said. "USC has been the only school I have visited. I don't have anything to compare it with. I have not set up any more official visits. I will probably visit Alabama, Florida State, Miami and possibly Florida."

Does anyone else read that article, and get the feeling that we have at least a decent shot with Spiller? Anyway, I couldn't help but feel that way, and I'm feeling really good about all of the big guns giving us face time. He is for sure scheduling an official.

As long as the staff is confident that Ford will be here in 2006 (earlier updates have me worried), I don't feel good about our chances with any RBs in this class. Look at our RB depth chart next year:

Darby - SR
Castille - SR
Coffee - SO
Johns - SO
Upchurch - rFR
Sharrieff - rFR
Ford - tFR

Point taken! Ha! I posted similar info in a thread a couple of weeks ago. What am I thinking?

Why do i have this gut feeling about C.J.Spiller????

Is it just a pipe dream or could this young man be really be considering us for real. It would add somemore luster to a great class already!

I don't know if he will come but it does look like he is giving us a shot! I like this kid. It seems like he has a good head on his shoulders.

BTW, has anyone noticed the wireless bluetooth headset he has in his Rivals photo?

I am no recruiting expert, but many of the Gator boards say that we should be able to take somewhere in the high twenties. With UM getting a late start last year, he chose not to take a full class and I think we can count a number of early entries towards last years class. One prospect is expected to play major league baseball and I would be very surprised if there was not at least one acedemic problem, although UM seems to be more conservative than most in that regards. As of this morning, we are sitting at 21 verbals. We do have a number of high rated recruits in the mix and should get several but I think everyone would be surprised if we got enough to overload the class. No reason to assume that UM is lying to get recruits.

We do have our eye on a number of receivers which is important to UM's offense, but many of them are also highly rated on the defensive side of the ball. I think this is a good strategy that will allow us to plug people in where needed and adjust for injuries or people who do not pan out.

As for, why FL - our big loss to AL came early in the season after a coaching change and key injuries (not trying to discount the great game AL had here). Even with a poor season (compared to expectations) we can improve over our records by 2 games over the past 3 years (with bowl win), won all our home games, and beat our top 3 rivals (with a number of recruits in attendance). While many feel that the option will never work in the SEC there are still enough out there that look back on UM's resume and see a huge jump in productivity between the first and second years. There are a number of thin positions on the depth chart. Throw in the campus, fan base, location, conference, etc. Also, FL is near the top of the list for number of grads currently in the NFL. Both AL and FL appear to be on the rise and recruits can be sold on potential.

there is no way that we get Spiller. We have as good a chance at getting him as hoping Reggie Bush transfers. Not anything Neg on Bamas side just with the depth chart and what other schools are after him. He is not coming to Bama (see Fred Rouse)
