California QB commits to Tide

Great News

Now lets hope we can get another couple this week. This guy has nice size, and his dad is his high school coach. Sound familiar? There was a certain QB recruit in Alabama that went out of state whose dad was a football coach. I think he's holding out in San Diego for a better deal.................

Not to mention the inroads in California this is creating.

This is exactly what Bama needs to do to begin getting that national reputation back. I agree that we must get the kids in AL first but we also must be able to be in the serious running for the top kids in the country and land a few. Shula continues to prove that he and his staff can recruit so what out SEC because Bama is on its way back and will leave you in its TIDAL WAVE. Roll Tide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Insiders Recruiting has him listed as a one star? Link

Oh well, he still has his senior season to go and I'll trust the coaching staff's scouting abilities.

Given the fact that he picked us over ND and Miami, I'd consider him a top prospect no matter what the star rating. Also note that Willingham has as much, if not more, knowledge of California kids than anyone outside of that state. If Ty wanted this kid to come to the golden domers, then you can bet your rosey crimson tides that the kid 'got game'.

Roll Tide...I like this kid's size 6-5, 225...this thing is fixin' to turn around in T-Town...look out vomiteers...look out barners...look out bengal tigggers...you've all had your little run in the sun, but the Tide is rolling back in...

I'm not going to count our chickens before they hatch, but I must admit that I like the way our program seems to be heading. I am ready for some game action. :biga:

The key tid bit here is that Alabama and more specifically this coaching staff can land kids from across the nation. this has been a key ingredient in all the programs that have won National Titles in the last few years.

I've also noted that this staff seems to focus a fair amount on high school programs that are more sophisticated in both scheme, and preperation. They are not taking the "best pure athalete" approach. Not that these kids aren't great athaletes. But theres more to winning than just being able to run fast.

Question

Who is that lb from california?Maby he can ride with barnes to T TOWN.

ROLLTIDE :biga:

I like recruiting coaches' kids, not necessarily because they have a better idea of sschemes and such, but because they understand and readily accept the discipline required for a winning program. They don't get their feelings hurt as easily and crawl into a shell. They can accept criticism better than a lot of kids who've been fawned over their whole athletic lives.

Shula and staff getting this kid is huge news!! When was the last time Bama got a bigtime recruit from California?

LOL, Al Bell, seems like we've had some JUCO transfers from out there in the past few years, but straight out of HS, not sure.

I put about as much credence in those star systems as I put in John Kerry's latest position on anything. Remember Jeff Dunn, Vince Dunn, Billy Ray, etc? Or how about lightly regarded players like Phillip Rivers.Andrew Zow, Gary Hollingsworth, etc?

As you say, we'll have to trust the coaching staff. They're far more qualified than some pencil-necked recruiting geek.

Obviously, we won't know how these kids will pan out for another 2-3 years; but I must say this: I am impressed with Shula's conviction. He seems to have a plan and is sticking to it.

Some fans of other teams are knocking some of the commitments we have received to date because they haven't been offered "by the big schools." I tend to agree with you guys. Coach Shula is (hopefully) offering guys that he sees fitting into his system the best.

With a fanbase as rabid as ours, it cannot be easy to go after players that aren't considered "blue chip." I, for one, think it's admirable that CMS has a plan and is sticking to it - sink or swim.

Barns is the QB that Shula has been after. He has been one of his main targets for this next class. Welcome Jimmy Barns possibly the next great Bama QB.

Dude....

Man.....

Wow....

I've wanted recruiting like this for as far as I can remember. I honestly don't recall being more optimistic about the Tide ever more than I am right now...
