What’s Going To Happen

This is the moment the Tennessee program has been waiting so long for.

It has the team, the talent, the upside, and the ability to win a monster game like this because it might be just that good. It has the scheme, the coaching, and the talent to come out firing and …

Welcome to the University of Alabama football program.

Tennessee might have a decent statistical run defense, but that’s mostly because everyone spends so much time throwing. The Crimson Tide will have their fun through the air, but they’re going to pull this off with the running game and a defensive front stepping up when they have to.

The Vols will get up fast. Social media will have Alabama dead, QB Hendon Hooker will be handed the Heisman, and a trip to the College Football Playoff will be a lock, and then Bama will go Bama.

Two quick scoring drives from the Tide running game will set the tone in the second half, the defense will feed off the momentum with a few key stops, and it’ll all slip away for the Vols.

It’ll be fun in the final moments with Hooker getting one last chance to do something amazing, and then the cigars will be lit.

I take exception to this assessment:

"enough explosion to challenge the shaky Bama corners – Xavier Worthy of Texas wore the Tide DBs as a hat in the first half of that"

Worthy had great stats but from what I recall he had to make some circus catches over decent coverage to rack up a big portion of those stats. And a couple of them were "chuck and pray" type throws from Ewers too (seems like our opponents always come down with those but that's another story).

I haven't seen anything to date to call our CB's "shaky" at all. If anything, I'd say they have looked like some of the best in the country.

Now - could they come out and get smoked against UT? Sure. But nothing we have seen so far would point toward that happening...

When was the last time an overhyped team beat us? I might consider 2019 LSU, but that was a team of the century type team. This one is not. We simply don’t lose these kinds of games.

In fact these are the kinds of games were lessons are taught.
We haven't played like that old team for an entire game on the road....in a while. Hopefully we start again this weekend.

I've seen my fair share of circus catches by opposing receivers this year, and none from our own receivers. This is the difference so far in the closer games we've played. Other teams are beating us in that category. I think we our secondary is mediocre for our standard to begin with, which means they are above average nationally. But they've had a lot DPI's called on them, and opposing receivers seem to be willing to rise above to make a catch. Meanwhile, our receivers seem to rarely be open enough to not require a second progression by either Young or Milroe.

I think people are comparing this to Ewers having a good game in the air vs us.......Hooker being a stellar QB as well.....but not comparing it to where our secondary is now with Arnold.

Yup - fifteenessee will get some yards, but Bama is currently 12th in the country in passing yards per game allowed. Fifteenessee is currently ranked 128th...

Here is where the pass defenses fifteenessee has faced so far are ranked nationally:
Ball State: 64th
Pittsburgh: 48th
Akron: 123rd
Florida: 63rd
LSU: 28th

For over a decade, Hate Week has been the highlight of the regular season for me.Watching the "I The Tennessee" video again, listening to the Tennessee jokes and knowing that Bama will administer a curb stomping on Saturday. Even better, knowing that the Viles and Phat Phil also know they will get curb stomped. To me, this is the most important game of the year. It has overshadowed the Iron Bowl ever since Phats tried to destroy the Bama program. And for the first time in years, I am not confident of a win. It feels more like the 3rd week of October in the Shula years to me.

I just hope we win the turnovers. That's the only reason aTm had a pulse at the end of the game.

Score early and get the crowd out of the game.

I like Bama no matter what. It's still the Vols after all and they haven't played a team yet that is now ranked.

Shula!? REALLY!? Nope. Not even a smidgen of L'il bit.

Admittedly there's a higher probability the Viles pull off the upset than recent years but they'll need the same luxury's we afforded Snake Oil Jimbo to do so.

No way this takes me back to the Shula years.

I don’t think they will get those “luxuries” this week…….. I think we are looking at trench warfare

Bama has won the turnover battle ONE TIME in the past 12 games.

Take a guess who it was against and how the game turned out.
