CFN: Florida State and the "Rigged" College Football Playoff: Daily Cavalcade

my guess is that the answer to this question is going to be overwhelmingly, "oh hell yes i'd be interested in that"
How about if ten games in the twelve game are schedule are like that? No uncertainty. Game over at half time.

No one wants a different champion each year. Because that lessens the accomplishment. It becomes more of an “is it our turn now?”accomplishment. Who wants to watch that?

NFL isn’t watchable anymore. NBA is worse. And MLB lost me about a decade ago. Parity is boring.

Look back at when each was at their best…you had a Chicago Bulls or a Patriots or a Torre’s Yankees running the show and everyone else chasing.

NBA found a glimmer when the Warriors went on a run. But now it’s gone again.

people want to chase an evil champion. It adds another layer.

if you told me the next NFL Champions were the Lions, the Jets, the Bears, the Titans and the Jaguars, I wouldn’t watch a game.

but if you told me the Dolphins will win 4 of 5, I’d latch on to that.

Bama and UGA aren’t in a rematch because Michigan and Texas are in the picture. Two other Blue Bloods.

if either of them were out, you would get UGA, ahead of FSU.

FSU fans don’t get it. Their 5 spot was a gift. Because if it came down to them or UGA, they lose that too.

As far as Bama/Auburn games coming down to 3 pts each year? I have zero interest in that. As a Bama fan, I want no close games.

as a football fan, I want upsets of other giants. But if you have parity, upsets don’t mean as much. For the upset to really matter, you have to have the bad guy to chase.
You make a great point. You say you want upsets of other giants. One of my concerns is that upsets are getting harder. The disparity between the blue-bloods and the masses is greater than it has been. If a team can no longer collect a few good players or stumble into a QB to raise it because transfer and NIL rules makes it easy for the blue-bloods to poach everyone else. Look at all of your Heisman contenders. Williams left OU, Nix left Auburn, and Pennix left IU. How can an underdog upset a blue-blood if your best players are lost to them before the season begins?

Irony is. They weren’t the best players. They moved to a league with no defense. So they all thrived.

What fsu fans are doing right this minute.

we've had a few seasons that were somewhat close to that. i enjoyed the hell out of them
I love this Michigan fan coming here trying to convince us all that what we really want to see is Alabama barely squeaking by with 3 point victories over mediocre teams, having a couple 3-4 loss seasons, and only occasionally playing for a championship. And he is trying to sell that as ideal football. Maybe in Ann Arbor…..😏

Living here in Pensacola, I was not sure it was safe to wear my Tide stuff out in public. They have turned pretty ugly. I hope Georgia wipes them out. In fact, I hope they go 4-8 every year! Awwful fan base!!

Yeah, if they want to make a statement, go dominate Georgia. Opt outs or not (on both sides), losing to UGA would negate their argument before the offseason.

At dinner this evening, I Saw on the scroll of the Florida/Michigan basketball game tonight that FSU is exploring conference affiliation options again. Getting passed over for the CFP is driving the decision.

Do these morons not realize that in any other league they are most likely not undefeated?

To those who weren't old enough in 1993....this is so delicious.

Florida State were jerks then, too.

Full of excuses about why:
a) they deserved to be ahead of West Virginia - because of the easy schedule
b) they deserved to be ahead of Notre Dame despite the head-to-head loss

They were correct on a but wrong on b.

They won a national championship they didn't deserve.
This year, they just won't win another one they don't deserve.

The end.

I remember seeing a sign around that time at an irish Pub that read 'Notre Dame 31, National Champions 24"

basically .. dont you have anything more important to do? LOL

classic
Also...
"The Committee, which consists of 13 college football experts, including seven people with experience coaching or playing football at the collegiate level and higher, takes this matter very seriously."

In other words, we know more about football, maybe you should stick to politics!

I remember feeling a little bad for WVU at the time, but happy that Notre Dame got stiffed.

Far be it from me to ever pull for Notre Dame, but yeah, they got screwed that year.

I was just 10 so I didn't have passionate feelings about WVU, but I did wonder why they weren't playing FSU in the Orange Bowl instead of Nebraska. Of course, Florida mauled them in the Sugar Bowl.

I do NOT want to see FSU get into the SEC. Number 1, they had their chance and refused directly because they wanted an easy schedule. But secondly, they don't deserve it. I hope the Big Ten refuses them as well.
