I have spoken with several people about the game today. Everyone said it was loud and a great atmosphere. I was also told that after the game was over, fans started chanting "Fire Shula." Can anyone confirm this? 10 different people I know confirmed it, but all were sitting in the student section.

If it is true, I find it very interesting. Also, did anyone else hear the CBS announcers say that Mal Moore left his luxury box early? Does anyone else know if this is common?

Roll Tide and Stop the Streak...........next year. :)

I'm not sure how common this is, but I did hear them make the statement.

Re: Chants are CBS coverage ended

was hard to hear any chants of fire shula over the auburn band doing rammer jammer. I'm still emotional. Only if Mal was going to warm up the jet to go find someone who can beat auburn. I love coach shula and i'm proud of what he's done but i have yet to see him get us over that hump. Odds tell you that every year a team beats another team they arent supposed to. Rutgers, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Maryland, Wake Forest, how long till it's our turn.

Re: Chants are CBS coverage ended

I didn't see it as a rumor Bama Reb because I heard it from so many people. I just wanted to see if it was true. If it is, I am very surprised and embaressed to see it. As an alum, I want to see the best possible image of my school being displayed.

Everyone likes to talk about the class Alabama has. I was hoping to find out that what I was told was untrue.

Re: Chants are CBS coverage ended

I sat in the band section and didn't hear a "Fire Shula" cheer. If there was one, it wasn't organized enough to be very audible. Plus, with Agbarn's band playing Rammer Jammer, it was tough to hear anything.

I don't know how common it is, but I believe he was downstairs with about 5 or 10 minutes left to go in the homecoming game. My wife and I walked right by him, and he said hi to my wife. I didn't even know it till after he had passed by, because I was so focused on getting to Big Al for a picture with our baby girl. :)

I believe that shula has already been told that he is gone, i think Mal and Dr. Witt tried to talk to him about staff changes and he said no. I think we will know something next week. jmo

I would REALLY love to know what this is based on. Anyone else have the same idea?

Or was the first part an opinion? I wasn't sure if that was just the last part of your statement, or all inclusive.

Seriously, just curious here. :BigA:

Rumor (Definition)
A flying or popular report; the common talk; hence, public fame; notoriety.
A current story passing from one person to another, without any known authority for its truth; -- in this sense often personified.

BG'05, if what you're spreading isn't rumor, what is it?

Re: Chants are CBS coverage ended

BG2005's original post looked more like a question to me ("can anyone confirm this?") but its always refreshing for someone to define a commonly used word for us.

I have heard something like that too. I've heard a name as to who we are looking at, but I won't say the name I heard as it might have changed.

Re: Chants are CBS coverage ended

Bama Grad, I don't know about the Bama fans yelling, "FIRE SHULA!", but the Aubies were yelling, "DON"T FIRE SHULA!" That's not a rumor, that's a fact...jack!!!

Re: Chants are CBS coverage ended

I was at the game and i did not hear the fire Shula chant.
The atmosphere was awesome and the players played their hearts out AGAIN with no help from the coaching staff.
At end of the game Bama fans were very upset mostley grumbling among themselves. At the other end it was the most sicking site and feeling i've ever had at BDS! The aubie band and fans singing rammer jammer was a punch in the gut that will never be forgotten! You could see the players were heartbroken, disgusted and many left the field quickley.
After the rammer jammer cheer they started a Shu-la Shu-la cheer and the boogs sang it inside stadium and the whole way out. Once outside they got behind the band and marched right in front of BDS playing their fightsong! Unacceptable!!!

The atmosphere and the facilites are the best in the country! It's time to find the best coach to match the facilites!

Don't know about chants at the game, but the CBS announcers did mention that they were sitting in the booth next to Mal's and he left his booth before the end of the game.....fwiw

Re: Chants are CBS coverage ended

I've seen Mal Moore on the sidelines every game usually during the 4th quarter. There are so many non-team folks around (media, former players, etc) that if you aren't looking for him he can be missed. I left immediately after the interception and didn't hear the band until I was on the back side of the cemetary, but the Aubies that passed by weren't crowing. Tbey seemed to be sighing with relief they got away with another one.
